Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao Master Discussion Thread

This fight will be a tale of two fighters having to adapt to each other until a stoppage or the last bell. Floyds demise will be he will be willing to sit inside and rely on his reflexes and blocking for defense and not as much with his legs, he will still use the ring to his advantage but Maidana is quick on his feet and can close the distance and is working on cutting off the ring. Floyd is crafty and elusive but Maidana is relentless and unpredictable and it will be difficult for Floyd to figure him out because Maidana has good combinations, feints, and traps. Floyd will realize Maidana is faster and a better boxer than he expected and it only takes a series of jabs or a feint and a manuever low to close the distance a few feet and if Maidana is within range you can bet he is going to throw sledgehammers and mix it up.

He will also be working to the body and Maidana is used to both being in wars, and getting hit, but he also has underrated defense, so Floyd is going to tag him up, but he will slip a few, block a few, and if he slips and blocks shots coming in, it can be the difference because you can bet one thing: Floyd may (and I believe he does) have a great chin, but it doesn't matter, Maidana puts people in ambulances with both hands.

regrarding Devon, I think Devon loses a rematch in a bad way right now. Maidana was out of shape, it was his first fight at this weight, and this was pre Garcia. And Devon was holding the whole fight. Who can throw punches when your arms are being held?

Think Guerrero: Prior to the fight, his fans said that he would do like he did to Berto but then all he got was frustration because Floyd either held or moved almost everytime Guerrero tried to fight on the inside.

Floyd analysis thread is going pretty good. I figured I would let them have their fun and not post anything about Pacquaio. Although, I would like to comment on a post or two from that thread.

There was a post that mentioned Floyd would be applying feints and a touch-jab to set Manny up. Here's the problem....the feints and touch-jab is what will get Floyd corner-jacked. Manny has no problem punching with his opponent. This makes Floyd easier to hit. If he is feinting or touch-jabbing, he's not completely blocking.

Also read something about Manny's speed only being effective at certain times. Which really means only between rounds 1 through 12.

One thing that has been overlooked imo. Manny is not going to stay in front of Floyd. See, the only thing we have been watching are fighters that try to walk Floyd down and come straight at him. You aren't use to seeing anything else. Floyd gets beat for two simple reasons. Speed is going to be coming his way. And Floyd is not prepared to handle the punching angles that Manny is going to come in and out with. Floyd is use to his opponents going at one speed (slower than Floyd) and down a one lane highway (straight at him). You know when a fighter says.....he hasn't been in the ring with anyone like me. This couldn't be more true coming from Manny.

Floyd Mayweather was on before the Manny Pacquiao hype /gimmick and he still on after the MP hype!
