Who was the greater ameteur Guillermo Rigondeux or Vasyl Lomachenko?

they are two of the greatest amateurs ever. the amateurs are very different from the way they once were. these guys [especially from cuba and former soviet countries] fight amateur into adulthood. when you're as little as those guys, you are in your prime as an amateur.


historically, an american amateur in the HW or LHW division wouldn't even be in the "man strength" years by the time he turned pro. guys would turn pro young to make money, even if it meant taking some losses early in your career.

a 132 or 125 lber will be at his physical peak in his early 20's. these guys were still amateurs at that time.

And yet Rigondeaux is doing pretty well past his prime at the pro level...

Both equally impressive, interesting comparison with two vastly different boxing schools...both fought the best competition available in the ams and were almost flawless, for personal preference Vasyl for me slightly (for obvious reasons) but with no bias pretty much equal in terms of dominance/accomplishments etc. Looking forward to a meeting in the pros soon!

I think the reason why Rigo is still razor sharp is cause he doesn't take much damage and (most importantly IMO) he doesnt balloon up between fights. Just like Mayweather, he stays around fight night weight.

You are sorely mistaken Rigo wasn't in the 2007 Championships because it was in chicago us = no Cuba coming Rigo got gold medal in all the major events he competed. Lomachenko didnt compete in as many therefore his amateur wins arent against as tough opposition. RIgo only gets gold so actually that silver you mention makes Loma look bad Rigo would been like ew silver lol.
