Immediate injuries maybe. But the vast majority of retired athletes in contact sports do acknowledge that they do suffer or have suffered from injuries when they were younger.

It is very strange that out of 4 doctors, 4 doctors didn't insist a immediate hospital visit in an ambulance . VERY STRANGE . If anything just to take x-rays of his broken face , nose , and hand. If u Walked into a doctors office with the injuries mago had I think he would send you to the hospital and probally call an ambulance

For me, the issue isn't what happened during the fight. It's a fight, injuries can happen. I watched the fight and at no point did I think Mago was unable to defend himself. I always thought he had the chance to potentially score a KO. It was a competitive fight through out the whole 10 rounds.

The issue is what happened after the fight. How is it that an ambulance isn't available? That's absurd, plain and simple. It is clear that he had significant swelling and general facial damage. Added to that the failed post fight numbers test. Those facts alone warrants a trip to the hospital not by a taxi, but by an ambulance. The blood in the urine is a clear red flag. If they had an ambulance present then that would have saved precious time that could have potentially saved his life.

A sense of urgency is needed in these post fight situations. I don't think it was here in this situation.

I disagree. He was getting weaker as the fight went on, losing every round from the 4th onwards, my recollection is that it became a case of 'would he go 10 rounds?' as opposed to 'could he score a KO?'.

            well said.

i would have had no problem with the magomed corner, the doctor, the ref, stopping the fight. i didn't see any point in the fight that made me think "this fight has to be stopped. magomed isn't fit to continue boxing."

When you mix cheap promotions with corrupt incompetent athletic commissions you get these type of situations. Everything goes corrupt when there is virtually no accountability, transparency and oversight.

It's easy to screw over an immigrant like Magomed who basically knows nothing about how the system works

Sad thing is, if he'd quit when he should have, and avoided most of the damage, many of these pathetic keyboard cowboys would call him a disgraceful quitter and tag him with that for the rest of his career, never being the wiser the move saved his career and possibly his life.

That is what happens when you don't have a Governing Body, it is just a free for all and when things go bad like this situation it is really nobody to point the finger at or take responsibility

It is a very sad situation!

I tried typing this and that, but I'm just at a loss for words. Feeling sad and angry!

You are right in every way, but I never care about what those types of people say. I'm inclined to believe that we have many more posters here who are understanding of this sport than the fanatics.
