Back then, the best fights the best, nowadays, it depends entirely whether a fighter is "noteworthy" enough to generate big purses to validate the fight.

This is akin to a ratings war in college football to validate their playoff positions, therefore a true no.1 vs no.2 team to play in the championship is a rarity. Why? Because it's been been put into polls.

Mayweather chooses his opponents as if HE is the prize instead of the belt. That is a sport that has gone wrong. There should be a higher commission or governing body to oversee the fairness and validity of the fights, rankings and mandatory defenses.
Now don't get me wrong, I COMPLETELY agree with everything you just said. Just like I believe there should only be one belt in each division. Multiple belts in each division equals sanctioning fees to put money in their pockets, but takes away from being the true champion in the sport. In my personal opinion, and only my personal opinion, I feel that Mayweather's style of technical fighting and skills will keep another fighter from imposing their own stong abilities on him. Pac man doesn't seem to have technical boxing skills and seems to take alot of risks, I just don't see it as a great match up, but anything can happen in the sport.

So basically you are just a generic, cowardly little bumsniff. An idiot who probably has about ten bans to their name, yet because of their rather gay obsession with floyd, has to keep coming back to whine and grumble. You even have the brass neck to say you cant take other's seriously.

          No balls, absolutely no balls.

Then don't blame it on Pacquiao. THat is akin to saying that Mayweather is blaming Arum for the fight not happening because he's Pac's promoter.

THere's an obvious disparity and differences between Mayweather and Arum in their past. It's gotten personal...yes, that's one of the hurdles and I agree that Arum plays a big role in the decision-making.

But with this supposed super fight was marred by both sides' demands also. And thus went to the mediators' hands. And the court later...which is another road block.

And so if anything, there should be a commission governing over the fight, not leaving it to the PROMOTERS and BOXERS. That is my stance on this one and I think that the lack of a governing body to foresee fair fight, fair rankings and ordering defenses - it is killing the sport.

Your opinion of the fight...is fine with me. But what isn't is again basing on SPECULATIONS whether a fight should happen or not. IT SHOULD HAPPEN ON THE RING to settle it, not talking about it. Don't you agree?

              This isn't a debate...it shouldn't be. It's the sport of boxing.

                  Good post, and I agree.

Sorry I feel like when I mention Manny, it should be team Manny and not Pacquiao the man himself. We all know Arum is the one to pull the strings and I blame him for the fight not happening.

Cant wait for him to retire.

Stop being a coward. You have exposed yourself as an alt, time to man up or fook off.
