Did The De La Hoya fight prove what a hypejob Mayweather is?

It seems that whenever the guy faces true talented boxers with a wealth of experience at the elite level he looks like another elite boxer who isn't as much of a stand out as he likes to make out.

He struggles with a rightfully called split decision against a faded Oscar, a fight I thought was a draw, and was given the ''toughest fight of his career'' against a shot to sh** Cotto.

The fight that propelled him to elite level stardom was the closest fight of his career, and it was against a faded fighter. Now he cherrypicks, inexperienced up and comers or goes for past prime former greats.

I see Mayweather as an elite fighter, but I think him being leaps and bounds ahead of the competition is a mere deception, when looking at his resume I see very few prime ATG's or HOF fighters in their prime.

Scored it 8-4, but Oscar being a shell of his former self had a lot to do with that.

It wasn't really an inspiring win, by any means.

Mayweather has hand picked his opposition carefully after he was forced to fight DLH pretty much (back then he wasn't in the position to choose and in order to get there he needed to fight DLH - past his prime too). Once he managed to slip by Oscar with a SPLIT decision, he made sure to select the right opponents at the right time. He waited like 6 years to make the Cotto fight (which was hot at that time and he retired) and still doesn't think it is right to face Pacquiao.

at the thread starter acting like 7-5 for DLH was a legitimate score for that fight and that Cotto was shot to shit.

The fight didn't really prove anything. But your trolling is somewhat amusing, so keep it up.

116-112. Fight was no where near a draw. Clear victory. That said I cant disagree much about Floyd's resume. Its good but not great.

That fight was closer than people try to make out. And Cotto was shot to s***, he got brutalized by Margs and Pac.

                  lmao

Floyd might be a cherry picker, but he's no hypejob. He's got the goods, even if he's too scared to test them.

The Catchweight King got a measly split decision against a way past prime coming out of retirement Oscar prime Oscar would have beat the breaks off Floyd.
