Comments Thread For: Arum Wants Donaire-Walters, Not Rigondeaux Rematch

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum doesn’t want Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire to face off with WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux in his next fight, despite the fact that Donaire called him out after winning by a 9th round TKO in a featherweight rematch against Vic Darchinyan on Saturday night in Corpus Christi, Texas last Saturday.

Instead, Arum told krikya360.com/Manila Standard that he would like Donaire to face Jamaica’s undefeated WBA featherweight champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (23-0, 19 KO’s), who retained his title with a 4th round TKO over Mexican challenger Alberto Garza on the same card as Donaire and whom Arum described as “very powerful.”

AH there it is, damage control for Nonito shooting off his mouth about wanting Rigo. Bob knows whats up. Can't have his mini atm getting embarrassed again to Rigo. That was a impulse call out anyway, it was more a throw into Max Kellerman face than it was his actual desire. No one wants to GO and get their ass beat that badly twice.

ain't a bad fight *****, why u pissed off? walters is a champion with legit credentials. noway is Donaire going to step back in with someone like Rigo after the Darchinyan **** up. Donaire needs to get back to his best, which should come against Walters...plus there's the question of weight. Unless Rigo starts pulling crazy numbers aint no filo-star movin down for him.

He knows he doesn't want it....it would probably be worse the second time around. Stay away and stay safe.

Why does this not surprise me. Donaire loses to Rigondeaux and is still promoted like he is a superstar while Rigondeaux is treated like he has been knocked out in his last five fights.

Yea.... seemed kind of obvious in how Bob works.
Anyway, very dangerous fight for Donaire... especially after his last showing

Give Donaire two-three more fights before a Rigo rematch. Allow his confidence to build back up so he can at least be hopeful in being competitive with Rigo.
