Comments Thread For: Victor Ortiz-Luis Collazo Set For January 30 at Barclays

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised krikya360.com that he finalized a battle of former welterweight champions for January 30th, as Victor Ortiz (29-4-2, 22KOs) will make his return to the ring against Luis Collazo (34-5, 17KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised by FOX Sports 1.

Ortiz will enter the ring for the first time since the June 2012 TKO loss to Josesito Lopez. During the fight, which led to the stoppage, Ortiz suffered a badly broken jaw. The surgery and post-rehab placed Ortiz on the shelf for several months.

Ortiz should of taken an easier fight, 19 months out of the ring is a very long time, Callazo's gonna outwork him.

Intriguing fight. I love it! Collazo fighting on a January again, just like in '09 against Berto. Maybe this time he'll win.

This one could go either way. Hope Ortiz will be ready. Collazo is no pushover.

Collazo looked really good in his last fight against Alan Sanchez and he has that tricky style so hard to pick here.
