Comments Thread For: Nathan Cleverly: My Hunger and My Desire is Back!

As previously reported, Nathan Cleverly will return to ring action as a cruiserweight after confirming he will fight for the vacant Commonwealth title against Daniel Ammann at the Copper Box Arena on November 30.

The 25-year-old lost his WBO light-heavyweight crown after suffering the first defeat of his professional career against Russian Sergey Kovalev in August.

But the Welsh boxer, whose future was shrouded in uncertainty following the setback, has revealed he is eager to resume his career and is motivated by the prospect of becoming a two-time world champion.

Sure bud! Nathan Cleverly sucks! Typical stay at home and fight nobodies. All these fighters claiming they desire to be the best need to go to the U.S. and fight the best.

Good lad, hope he bounces back. CW is a bit dead at the moment (as it always is... :conf3: ) with Huck, Hernandez, G.Jones, Lebedev and co not doing much between themselves, and Cunningham going to HW.

Having Clev in there might ****e things up, especially in terms of the European scene. Then again, if he couldn't take a shot from Kovalev, one from Huck would kill him.

Losing in as comprehensive a manner as he did means he is never going to be elite

he was manhandled and bullied with ease, he just had nothing for Kovalev

Not enough power or physical strength.

There are no notable cruiserweights in the US so why go there.. but I get what you mean. Nathan Featherly is very overrated IMO.

Clev doesn't fight Huck right now. Clev needs time.
(I hope no new Russian shows up at the cruiserweight soon.)

Or maybe Kovalev moves up to CW as well, just to torment poor Clev. It wouldn't surprise me either, because for some reason I don't foresee the big names at 175 - Stevenson, Hopkins, winner of Bute-Pascal - being very eager to fight him. He's like the LHW version of Golovkin, and Clev did his part in 'being a Macklin'.

Cruiserweight is dead? What do you mean? We just had Jones/Lebedev, with a rematch soon coming up, Hernandez finally has an opponent (he barely fights as it is) and Huck has his Arslan rematch. There's plenty of wars going on there. Wlod also has his WBC mandatory coming up. Most of these are mandatories so unification somewhere could happen

He fought Sergey Kovalev, Stevenson aside - he is the best (and Stevenson fights out of Canada anyway).

Who should they go to the US to fight? Tavoris Cloud to get robbed like Campillo?

OK, I should rephrase that - all the big names at CW are locked up in fights of their own, which aren't happening for ages. So "dead", or rather frozen, in the sense that Clev likely won't be getting a piece of them anytime soon. Especially the ones who fight mainly in Germany (Huck, Hernandez), or Lebedev whose biggest fanbase is in Russia.
