Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Trainer: Sillakh Will Get Knocked Out in Six

"We do not expect an easy fight. We are taking [Sillakh] very seriously. This guy definitely knows how to box and he does it very well. Sillakh will certainly not try to trade with Sergey, he will box. I think Sergey will use combinations [to eventually break him down] and then knock him out. We know that Sillakh has been knocked out and we that Sergey hits very, very hard. Sergey is the aggressor in this fight, and most likely he will knock Sillakh out in the sixth round. Of course, it may very well be that Sergey knocks him out before that, but I think about the fifth or sixth round [Sillakh] will be knocked out," Jackson said.

I think he gets knocked out in 3. Sillakh is a fantastic boxer but honest to goodness I really have no idea what his team is doing putting him in there with Kovalev. Respect to him but there's absolutely no way his chin holds up IMO. Kovalev is going to catch him early and often and I seen no possible way Sillakh makes it past the 3rd-4th round even if he boxes out of his mind.

Sergey starts off very fast and throws many punches, I can't see Sillakh surviving the early onslaught. I expect this fight to go just like Campillo/White/Cleverly.

I feel bad for Sillakh. A couple of years ago he was hyped up to be the next big thing and according to his team a lot of fans, boxing journalists...etc Dawson and the other top guys were scared of him. How things have changed....

Today he's basically a non factor and is handpicked to make Kovalev look good with an impessive KO victory to hype up a mega fight with Stevenson next year.

Even though I'd love to see Kovalev vs Stevenson next year it would be great if Sillakh would pull the upset. Sillakh is very talented and can punch. He seems like a nice humble dude, but has a weak chin not much head movements and gets hit so I can't really see how he will be able to take Kovalev's bombs. This is his chance though to get back in the mix and prove the doubters wrong.

if they are looking past sillakh they could have major problems! the guy is straight up a pure boxer and knows it could be he's last chance to make it big. i cant believe there throwing kov in there with him. its HIGH risk low reward

If Sillakh is still standing after 6 rounds, Kovalev is in trouble.

How can Jackson not take issue with this guy being such a racist? Calling African Americans sun burnt people and pure bred n@$$&** is plain wrong! I can't and won't support anyone who is ok with this garbage! Despite his boxing skills which will be tested, Sergey isn't someone who I respect.

This is an interesting fight. There was a brief time that I wouldn't have taken anyone at 175 over Sillakh. But he has chin and stamina issues that makes it hard to be confident in him. Forced to pick I'd go with Kovalev, who is an underrated technician, and would likely find Sillakh's chin at some point.

Sergey most likely mops the floor with SIllakh.

ppl are really sleeping on this fight but its one of the best matchups of the year imo. sillakh is underrated after the grachev loss, but he poses a great threat to anyone at 175. not saying he will win but he is dangerous, he could either neutralize kovalevs power with his tremendous boxing ability or catch sergei himself.

the reason i favor kovalev is because he has been fighting much better opposition as of late, also i feel sillakhs team took this fight because it was offered but their plan for a title shot was really further in the future.

the main thing however is the punch resistance, sillakhs chin is better than he gets credit for, its not bad at all just slightly above average. but average doesnt cut it when faced with the power of kovalev and there is no doubt in my mind kovalev can knock him out. that said sillakh could very well be able to lay kovalev out just as easily, if thats the case its almost a toss up. but we dont know if thats truly the case.

either way sillakh is the toughest opponent kovalev has ever faced by far.
