Mike gave everything he had. Some of you need to learn respect.

The correct decision. But if i remember correctly the ref missed an obvious knock down which if called would have made it a draw.

It'll be a hard climb back but if he's not going to fight with intelligence it's best for him to retire after taking the punishment that he did. This is a lesson he shoulda learned after the first Rios fight.
First of all, Mike is not a boxer. Second, Ruslan imposed his fight plan on Alvarado, it wasn't about what Mike wasn't doing. There is nothing Mike could have done differently 'cos he was doing it but Ruslan was just putting tremendous pressure on him and sooner or later, his leg was going to tire and he was eventually going to have to fight. Same thing with Tim and Marquez last week. The only difference is that Marquez wasn't applying pressure.

So did you walk away from the fight feeling Ruslan was the superior fighter?

I would not call Alvarado a quitter for choosing to stay in his corner last night. In fact, if he said yes he wanted to continue, the referee would have made the wrong decision if he allowed him to continue. Calling him a quitter not only diminish the effort he was *****g forth but also it would diminish the effort of Provodnikov, because like he said he made him not want to fight any more. Saying he quit in a way implies that he had two viable options but chose the easier one. Alvarado is a tough fighter but Provodnikov's beating gave him one option last night, stay in your corner, or your health and your career will be at grave risk. He made the right decision to stay.

Just a beautiful display of having more WILL than the other guy, just wanting it more. No slam to Alvarado, but Boxing is finding out Alvarado and soon to find out, Rios, are B-level fighters that beat nobody but each other... their claim to fame. Aside from one another, they beat nobody. UNLIKE Provo who comes from obscurity, was considered Bradley's safest option, absolutely took Bradley to within an inch of his life with a nasty beatdown included a concussion for which Bradley talked about for more than a month. Alvarado got the same recipe last night. Rios is about to get the same thing from Pacquiao. Then you can take Rios and Alvarado, and align them up with all the other B & C-level fighters to beat up on.
So what does that make Herrera who took Prov to school?

He accepted defeat.Realized he wasnt the best fighter in the ring that night.

Him thinking about his overall health most likely influencing his decision to not continue. Who know , probably the hardest decision he's ever had to make.

Very ignorant in my opinion to just ignore those facts and instead be quick to call a boxer a quitter.

Maybe if it was Rios he would have continued. But Ruslan seems to be made of steel.

Victor quits when he still has something left. I don't knock him for not continuing versus Lopez, but what he did with Floyd and Maidana was something else.

If you stop in the corner, I don't really knock you. You're man finishing out the rd he started, and deciding its best not to go out for another. But if you get up past a standing 8 and say "welp this is enough for me" I can't get down with that

He gave everything he had and in the end knew he couldn't win. Props for the heart
He did quit, not taking anything away from him though.
