Comments Thread For: Chavez-Vera Rematch: HBO, Arum, Pelullo on Board

Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions, who promotes middleweight contender Bryan Vera (23-7, 14KOs), has advised krikya360.com that there are ongoing discussions to stage a December rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32KOs). The rematch is likely going to land in a venue located in Texas, according to the current details.

Talks will continue between Pelullo and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who is equally interested in staging a rematch.

This past Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California - Chavez won a controversial ten round unanimous decision over Vera. Almost every ringside observer had scored the contest for Vera - but the three official judges handed down scores of 96-94, 97-93 and a criminal tally of 98-92.

Make it happen, the first fight was entertaining.

If Chavez really believes he won 7 rounds, then he should take the bout.

Vera probably can't do better, but JCC Jr. can probably do quite a bit better and probably not much worse so it is a fight that makes a lot of sense for everyone. Arum and JCC Jr. get another chance at a minimally risky fight while in rebuild mode plus a decent paycheck, HBO gets a rematch to a decent yet controversial fight so that should be decent ratings, Vera and Pelullo get another big payday.

      Seems simple enough to me~

Don't want to see this rematch...at all. It was only interesting because chavez broke his hand and didn't train properly. I'd like Vera to be on the next card as compensation for his efforts, but not in a rematch. Chavez should be fighting Bika or someone of that nature to set-up a fight with Froch/Ward. Or he should go straight to GGG/Marteiz.

make it happen. el dinero de vaca gets a chance to shut these haters up....but they'll probably be against a rematch because of some lame excuse, all because they already know chavez won and would win in even more impressive fashion in a remtach. so all that sht about a robbery goes out the window, all of sudden they don't want vera to have a chance at redemption. fake mofos.

HBO Boxing. The best fight here.

At least Vera will get another payday though. I'm happy for him about that.

This time, Jr. has to come at 168... Not to mention his "broken hand"...

Why would Vera take the fight? He was robbed first time, realistically there's no way he can ko Chavez, so he can't win.
