Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Tested, Wins Unpopular Decision Over Vera

StubHub Center, Carson, California - At a catch-weight of 173-pounds, former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (47-1-1, 32KOs) returned from over a year of inactivity, had weight struggles where the contract weight had to be raised to nearly light heavyweight on Wednesday, and won a controversial ten round unanimous decision over Bryan Vera (23-7, 14KOs). The scores were 96-94, 97-93 and 98-92.

The size difference was very clear in the first round. Chavez was taking Vera's punches much better than Vera was taking shots from Chavez. Vera was chasing, throwing punches, and looking to get in a big shot - with Chavez using a lot of movement and countering to the head and body.

I had it 96-94 Vera. I could have given maybe 1 more round to Chavez at best.

              Vera 8-2

Boxing is officially fu/c/ki/ng dead.....I've loved this sport since the age of 5 as early as I can recall due to my grandpop but all these bad horrible scorecards these last 3 years has truly killed the sport for me.

I thought Vera won but Chavez Jr landed 51% of his power shots versus Vera's 32% so keep that in mind before you start crying about a robbery. It was close and again I thought Vera edged it out. A rematch MUST take place IMMEDIATELY

This may be the one fight that everyone on boxingscene is in 100% agreement that Vera should have gotten the victory.
