Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr: Julio Will Avenge His Loss To Sergio Martinez

Julio César Chávez Sr. is confident his son will have a rematch against Sergio Maravilla Martinez to wipe out his defeat from September 15, 2012. On that night, the Argentine fighter dominated for eleven rounds, but during the twelfth and final round - Chavez Jr. (46-1-1) hurt and dropped Martinez, who managed to get up and won the fight by unanimous decison. After the fight, it was revealed that Chavez tested positive for marijuana and he got hit with a nine month suspension.

What do you expect? he's telling the truth, Camp vs Martinez was more a vacation than a camp. no excuses dude got beated up by Martinez, but I'm almost sure if Jr. trains hard the outcome will be different.

After all, he's got one of the best chins in boxing and he pressures like a demon.

Dudes doesn't realize that Jr. was having fruity loops for breakfast at 4 pm................................. what does that tell you in terms of preparation? howerver he put Martinez through hell on the 12 round, that's the truth, yeah he got schooled for the other 11 rounds, but like I said blame the preparation he did he just really never prepared.

Martinez appears on the slide now, and JCC Jr. has outgrown the MW briefs. I don't want to see a rematch at this point. I'd rather see Chavez fight guys his own size.

Jr. one of the best chins in boxing?? Who has tested his chin????? The 45 out of 46 boxers he faced were tomato cans!

Let him face top boxers from his own wt. and we will see how good his chin is.
Meanwhile he has only been tested by and old hurt Sergio Martinez which is the best he has fought thus far.

You can't take anything Sr or Jr say. I thought he would do a lot better against Martinez. I remember watching the build up to the fight on HBO and thought he has to be doing more training than that... "They're just not showing it, right?" Unfortunately he wasn't training. He's definitely been one of the most overrated fighters recently.
