Comments Thread For: Floyd Mayweather Brushes Off Canelo's Weight Threat

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) is not worried about the high rehydration of WBC/WBA 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 26KOs). In a recent interview, Canelo's trainer Chepo Reynoso said Mayweather made a big mistake by take the fight at a catch-weight of 152-pounds. Canelo, at times, rehydrates to over 170-pounds on the day of the fight. Mayweather feels the added weight can work against Canelo.

Mayweather didn't get the memo I guess. He's supposed to whine and complain that Alvarez is going to weigh so much more.

The weight would matter more if Alvarez fought a style that imposes his weight advantage. Maybe he will for this fight and make it work.

                Floyd's the best!!!!

Floyd = This will be easier than the Cotto fight. Weight don't mean nothing because skill pays the bills

Reporter = If this fight will be easier for you than the Cotto fight & weight doesn't matter, why fight Canelo at a catch weight???

Floyd = Man, I get no credit!!!

Floyd doesn't realize that sometimes it is all about the weight and not so much the skills no matter how good you are when your stepping in the ring at 148 and your opponent is 168+ Canelo is not as technically sound as Cotto but that makes him all that more difficult akward and unpredictable imo he is no Baldomir and at the end of the day Cotto had already tasted defeat unlike Canelo not saying he will win but If there is anybody out there right now who could beat Floyd Canelo is truly "The One"
