Comments Thread For: Abner Mares: I'll Fight Anybody, But I Deserve a Vacation

Former three division world champion Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14KOs) wants to take a vacation and spend some time with his family before returning to the ring. On Saturday, he was knocked out in the first round by Jhonny Gonzalez after getting clipped by a big left and then dropped twice before the referee waved the fight off. There is a rematch clause and Mares does have the option of facing Gonzalez next, but it appears that he might take a few months to relax before going in that direction.

Agreed, he fought in May against a tough De Leon. Over training can kill your legs.
