Why are people hating on Cleverly?

Dude went out of his way to secure a fight with Kovalev, could have easily avoided the guy and went down swinging vs one of the biggest punchers in the game. Guaranteed it was Frank Warren holding him back all these years and not the fighter himself.

Ok, maybe he isn't elite talent wise, not many thought he was... but it's pathetic to hate on undefeated fighters who fight the best and lose.

Cleverly didn't need to take this fight, he took a risk, it didn't pay off.

Aye Cleverly did nothing wrong, I believe he would have carried on fighting until he couldn't stand if he had the chance.

But I think maybe he believed the hype about himself too much, pretty foolish to stand infront like he did, but he deserves props for getting in the ring.

SECOND, Frank Warren - Cleverly's promoter - manufactured Cleverly's career by padding his record out with sub-standard opponents. Look at Cleverly's record. Warren has odious ties with the WBO. He exploited these ties with Calzaghe's career and he did the same with Cleverly. Only Calzaghe was in a terrible division so he could get away, cherry-pick, withdraw TWELVE times from championship defenses, merely fight 5/6 top-10 guys in over a decade etc

To Cleverly's credit, he beat 2 top-10 light-heavys in Bellew and Murat, but never fought a big name in his division like a Pascal, or Dawson, or Hopkins ... he was totally exposed tonight in a fight where he wasn't even competitive.

Oh well, such is life.
