No...the CW in this fight is totally ***ed up. How can he fight @ 154 with no CW for the title with Cotto who was the legit 154 champ...win the fight and become the 154 champ ...Then fight another legit 154 champ at a CW!!!!! Thats some COWARDLY shlt!

No way Floyd would walk away from the fight. Justified or not that would be a legacy killer right there.
And no its not $10,000,000 per pound over, your thinking of the penalty that was presented if Floyd came in overweight when the Pac/Floyd negotiations were happening.
I believe Canelo's manager said it was in the $1 million range, maybe more but no specific number was given.
Even so Canelo would be fine not making weight. He wins this fight he easily makes up that penalty in subsequent fights down the line. His popularity in the US would explode overnight if he were the guy to take Floyd's 0.

Catchweights are disgusting. But you can't have it both ways my man. If Floyd's a coward, by your definition, as is Manny. Catchweight for the vacant title at Jr. Middle. Catcweight for the Cotto's strap at Welter. It's really an ugly thing for the sport and gives anyone who wants to discredit the victory a warrant. I don't think either guy needed them.

          What?

Do you think it's a good tactic
I've heard on a couple podcasts that it's $1 million per pound over.

Cw have been around for a long time. Some of the legends of the sport have fought at them. Some care...some dont. Some times they are understanding. IMO...A man moving up in weight one or two divisions to fight for a title wants to challenge the champ within the limits of that division,,,as MAnny did Cotto. I dont have a issue with it. being that was Mannys first title shot a that division after coming up in weight.
Floyd on the other hand...Fought the 154 champ @154 with no CW and won the title. Boasting that he dont fight at catchweights blah blah blah...So now being the legit 154 champ...another legit 154 champ challenges him for his strap but with this 154 champ it has to ba at a CW? I got a problem with that!

agreed, only flömös act as if the catchweight is OK

they are the same ones calling Pacquiao the Catchweight King lol
when you corner them on this fact, they act as in the two situations are different and use logical fallacies to hopefully confuse the person they're arguing with. "But Manny has done it numerous times!" Like this somehow makes the Floyd/Canelo catchweight disappear. lol

if you're going to campaign at 147, and 154, and you hold belts in those weight classes, you need to man up and fight the opposition in those weight classes on an even playing field. Draining your opponents is bull****. If you can't fight the 154lb division at 154lbs

Its actually in the nsac code that no more than a maximum of 25% of the fighters purse can be fined for xoming in overweight. Thats why I thought it was hilarious when Pac wanted 10 milli per pound over. Basically Canelo can come in at 154 and fight and win but when May wants that money canelo can take it to court and it will be dismissed.

Fuggit, if I'm canelo, I'm coming in at 154/155.

Yeah too bad those rules don't apply to Manny and Mayweather.

i'm sure they've got something in writing in the event of canelo missing weight. whatever happens, they'll fight. nobody is going to walk away from that. it would be the biggest blow to boxing in years if that fight never went off because canelo didn't make 154 lbs.

expect a huge chunk of money going directly to floyd mayweather if canelo misses weight. he will not miss the weight.
