Even if that 12 million dollar rumor is true, and for the sake of argument I'll say its true, a 12 million dollar loss is peanuts to a company like CBS. Which owns Showtime by the way and grosses 4 billion annually. Floyd raises Showtimes profile in boxing. And they were also able to secure GB roster of young fighters in their prime.

To be fair, Kuyukut only said Floyd. Whether the split with GBP is good business remains to be seen.
Its already paying off. The highest rated boxing event of the year so far is Broner vs Paulie. A fight with little to no hype that most fans saw as a cherry pick fight. Showtimes doing it with 5 million less subscribers. While HBO is signing old shot fighters like Cotto to try and stop the bleeding. And the fighters they do have like GGG, Sergio, and Marquez are already a little long in the tooth. Showtime has the brighter future for sure.

Even though i'd like to see Rigo given another chance Merchant is right about his style not being entertaining.

His masterpiece against Donaire wasn't appreciated by the masses
Eff that, what Rigo does in the ring is pure art. It sucks how the casual fan can't appreciate that.
Boxing is certainly more than just slugging and throwing punches but it is also more than just great defensive prowess. The Rigo-Donaire fight had only 748 punches thrown between them. Both fighters should be ashamed of that fight to be honest. I probably blame Donaire more but both need to earn their purses by delivering action. It was a battle of faints.

HBO is dumb cause Rigo will continue winning and making history and will go to Showtime to display his greatness dude only got 12 fights and is already the best there is. HBO is dumb.

That was the point? Said you couldn't think of anyone worse than Rigo, Vazquez is far worse to watch.

Right, but no one's in the business of losing money for the sake of it.

Come on, Broner and Paulie sold and promoted that fight very well.

Regardless, in Pacquiao and Cotto HBO still have the second and fourth biggest draws in the sport and they're testing the waters in China this Autumn.

It's too early to say whether their split with GBP was a good business decision.
