To expand on Merchant's restaurant analogy
HBO is like a 5-star restaurant. Their customers expect high quality meals. Now say someone walks in there wanting Mcdonalds. HBO can't and won't serve that because it would ruin there reputation as a 5-star restaurant and people would stop going there because they think all there food is crap.Comment

here's a fun fact that HBO doesn't want people to talk about:
Donaire was booed by the crowd in his last 4 fights.
At some point you need to use your own brain instead of letting the rich TV executives do your thinking for you. Rigo wasn't the problem in the Donaire fight, it was Donaire.

Angulo was willing to take risks against the more sound, technical boxer. Donaire wasn't willing to open up vs Rigondeaux because he felt his power early in the fight and was content to "Zab Judah" the rest of the fight so long as he doesn't get knocked outComment

I will agree with this only if HBO was also not showing guys like Shiming (1-0 0 KOs for god's sake), Devon Alexander, even freaking Donaire who makes boring fights... people remember him KOing Arce but his fight with Narvaez was a fiasco, his fight with Vazquez was pretty bad and the Mathebula bout was pretty crappy. We also get some amazing entertainers like Chad Dawson, who throws like 20 punches per round, or an ancient Hopkins.
And don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching the fights of Rigondeaux and Hopkins, but they are pretty similar to most casual fans. So how can HBO say that Rigo is almost impossible to promote while they still show all those guys? It's just beyond my comprehension.Comment

Unlike rigo shiming actually has a fan base so hbo has to pay nothing to televise his card which is put on hbo 2 on tape delay. They aren't shoving anything down your throat...
