Comments Thread For: Gavin: I’m 2 or 3 fights away from the likes of Kell Brook

Many boxing pundits have said over the years: “You don’t need huge muscles to be a good boxer — it’s not a bodybuilding contest”, and Frankie Gavin, 16-0 (12), proved this point over the weekend when he out boxed Denton Vassell, now 20-1 (10), to unify the Commonwealth and British titles. Over the years, we have seen the likes of Joe Calzaghe reign over the super middleweight division with a similar physique to Gavin and it illustrates the fact that bulky muscles can slow you down, as Vassell found out to his cost.

It's by time Gavin and Sauders move up in competition they have been a pro now for a few years, they prove they can mix at domestic level quite easily but now it's time to take the leads off and see if they can mix it at world level.

To be fair they are moving Saunders on nicely. O'Sullivan, then Ryder, then looking to make the Martin Murray fight next year. He's only 23 I think.

I think Saunders will stop the irishman quite easily and I think he beats Rider by very wide points margin.

The fight I would love to see would be against Eubank Jr which I also think Saunders will win

I'm really starting to like the look of Gavin, he looks like he's gradually growing into the weight, and I love watching him when he performs well, his accuracy and foot work is superb and has the assett so often lacking in British fighters, defence. He should be moved on to European level next and Waren should be looking to get him to World level in the next 12 months.
