I don't know man this guy left a bad taste in my mouth last time he fought I expected a lot more from him against SOG he might win tommorow but I read earlier this week that he said he would rematch ward only at 175... I think anyone who follows boxing would agree that Ward stops him there as well might not even be a long fight to be honest.

I'm very interested in this bout. Dawson, at his best, seems like a much better boxer, but I'm not sure where he's at after the Ward beating. Is his resistance lower? Can he not recover as well? What's his confidence like and how will he react if Stevenson gets him in trouble?

I won't be surprised by a one-sided Dawson win or a stoppage win for Stevenson.
No he dosen't recover well at all he's a quitter I would have had a lot more respect for him if he went out on the canvas against Ward but he didn't he went out on his feet what does that say about a world champion??

Dawson has good power and could have stopped a lot of guys he decisioned. But thats not in his inclination. If he is in control he wont go after someone, he will just box them all night. If they push for a KO and make a mistake he will take it, but he wont force it himself. Many of his oponents become discouraged and go into survival mode and chad more or less lets them do just that.

Similar to mayweather and hopkins, two fighters who also have good power but generally feel no need to finish guys as long as they assert their dominance and will take a W any way they get it.

The oposite would be margarito. Poor puncher but extremely aggressive. Gets guys out of there because of the pace he sets and if a fighter ever goes into survival mode he will go even harder. He is in there strictly to hurt you and as a result he often does just that despite his lack of power.

Chad might not stop stevenson but it wont be because he cant punch. Its because hes a smart fightercand a boxer. He knows he can outbox his man but also that superman can crack so he wont take unnecessary risks which will likely allowing adonis to go 12.

Also cut stevenson some slack. Im not saying i approve of what he has done but he did turn his life around. Some things are unforgivable, to me pedophilia and racism. This may be close, but the man was trying to earn a living. At other peoples expense of course and again i do not condone of his actions. But i dont think people should hold it over his head for the rest of his life. He turned his life around a long time ago and stuck with it.. move on.
Good post but I have to question Dawson's champion status you talk about survival mode but he didn't even do that he quit... I mean he didn't even try as. He's a world champion.

lol.......and what part of making strippers fight each other naked for the lulz is making a living?

I'm all for second chances but what bothers me is that the guy does not seem humble at all. His demeanor actually appears self-congratulatory and arrogant.

A few of you obviously don't understand much about boxing. I'm no encyclopedia, but it isn't too difficult to understand the concept of weight drained. And, though he made a dumb decision to drop to SMW, Dawson was weight drained for Ward. That doesn't stick with a fighter. Once they go back to their natural weight, they're fine. So you need to stop hating the guy just because he made one bad decision. If you hate him because he isn't aggressive enough for your tastes, fine. I get frustrated with him for that too. But to say he's somehow over and out because of the weight drained issue is just wacked.

Now, as for Stevenson, this lowlife needs to get dropped in a bad way. I just hope Chad is p.o.'d enough to do it. And, as for anyone who's a fan of Stevenson after what he did to women... all that means is you yourself don't have a problem with abusing women... which means you're a sicko too.

I don't think Ward stops him, but he beats him there too. The gulf in skill was very evident.

I hope the ill-advised venture at 168 didn't ruin Dawson as a fighter so that he can give scumbag Stevenson a spanking.
