    Your opinion on catch weights

So it seems like a lot of you go back and forth on catch weights seemingly always in favor of the fighter you are a fan of. So can we come to a consensus on this? Catch weights are either legit or they are not. There should not be people trying to justify certain ones and discount others. What say you?

Anything from 148-154 is Jr MW, It's weight limits not minimums. I don't like the smaller fighter asking the bigger fighter to come in lighter as its cowardly (and yes I'm looking at you Floyd, Manny and Cotto) as its a shameful ploy to make the bigger fighter weaker. But it is what it is, it definitely isn't breaking any rules if both agree.

Because I haven't looked to see what are the records of fighters who have moved up in weight as opposed to move down in weight I can't say which one is more detrimental. For instance Kelly Pavlik and Bernard hopkins fought at a catch weight and Bhop whippped him. But on the flip side Andre ward fought chad at a Catch weight and the smaller fighter prevailed.

I feel that the better fighter is going to win regardless. And if both fighters agree to it then I hold both fighters to that same standard.

          They fought at SMW.

I don't like catch-weights, but it won't stop me from watching the fight.

I agree its the hypocrisy that drive me nuts. You can't defend one person's catch weight fight then attack another's. I would just like to see people look beyond their "stan-ship" and be objective with the criteria by which they choose to evaluate a fighter.

I don't mind catchweights if they aren't for a title. But if you want to fight a guy for his title then be a man and fight him at the division limit, dont try to handicap him.

If you are going to claim to be a champion at the weight and have fought their without the catchweight then do pick and choose when you want an advantage.
