Comments Thread For: Marquez: Robert Guerrero is Going to Have a Diffcult Night

Moments before the tense weigh-in between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero, I crossed paths with Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez.

Mayweather (43-0, 26 KO’s) defends his WBC welterweight crown later tonight against Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s) inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in a Showtime pay per view attraction and Marquez showed himself to be intrigued when asked for his thoughts on the matchup.

“I think this is a tough fight for the two fighters, but the fight is a tougher fight for Guerrero [because of] Mayweather’s style,” stated the four-division champion. “His speed, he counterpunches very good. It’s a difficult style.” [Click Here To Read More]

JMM Should Stop Talking Because He Sounds ******!

JMM was outweighed fight night by 25lbs when he fought Floyd Junior. Floyd didn't even make weight, and he didn't care. 3 1/2 years ago. JMM was getting beat by Pacquiao on all three scorecards when he landed one hail mary at the bell. He was gassed, winded, bloodied, and caught Pacquiao. Floyd was getting beat down by Victor Oritz, when he threw his cheap shot to get out of the fight on a break; ****** on Ortiz part... he was winning the fight, roughing up Floyd. Mosley at 40 years old, nearly had Floyd KO'd in 2! He was just too past his prime to do anything else. Cotto turned his fight into a street fight and bloodied Floyd, but was too past his prime, and ran out of gas. Guerrero is primed, he's not intimidated, he loves to fight, he's not afraid to get hit, he's been laughing at all Floyd's antics... he will knock out Floyd tonight, then what will JMM have to say.

Guerrero gets hit too easy wide ud for Mayweather. Ive had enough of this lucky punch bs. Did you not pay attention to the kind of punches that were landed. Marquez was throwing single bombs the whole fight. Trying to counter Pac with something big to put him to sleep. He landed that same straight right three times. He landed the overhand right a handful of times also, that first kd was a hellacious shot. Pac didn't have a plan b he never does. His plan B is plan plan A harder it works 95% of the tim. He hurt Marquez because he's a better athelete but Marquez has proved he can adjust and he's a step above mentally. Pac was up by one point and the fight wasn't even half way through big woop. Marquez was bleeding, he bleeds in every fight. Marquez was knocked down, big deal the man doesn't have a great chin I can't remember a big fight he wasn't hurt in Barrera, Pac, Katsidis, Mayweather even soft pitter pat Diaz had him hurt. Hurting JMM is not an accomplishment putting him out or beating soundly is and only Mayweather has. Pac has not and will never do either end of story.

You have to be kidding me with some of this bull**** you posted

Ortiz was losing every round, so much so he kept trying to head butt Floyd in every round, because he was so frustrated he couldn't land anything decent

Floyd was ducking his punches all night, it looked so easy, Ortiz gave up in the ring

STOP SPREADING FOOLISHNESS!!!!! After re-watching PBF vs Marquez the other night it's CLEAR to see that Floyd was smaller then than he is now. Floyd has NEVER entered a fight weighing 160!!!! 146 is Floyd's best fighting weight, that's what he weighed for Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz and now The Ghost who's about to be ghost or toast (whichever you prefer.

You're turning some half truths into exaggerated nonsense, which undermines your entire position.

Yes, Floyd didn't make the 144lb catch weight vs JMM (weight in at 146lbs). 25lbs? Don't be ridiculous. That would have put Floyd at 170lbs.

Hit Ortiz on a break? No, it is clear that the ref restarted the fight. Hit Ortiz to get out the fight? Outside of a single combination and some roughhouse tactics, Ortiz was getting a beatdown from Mayweather. His eyes were swelling, he was even wobbled in the 3rd. Floyd was nailing him with lead rights every time he rushed forward. It was not a close fight at that point and there was no indication that Mayweather had anything to worry about - except for head butts.

Mosley did wobble Mayweather. Nearly KO'd him? He didn't go down. That's not a "nearly KO" in my book. Yes, Mosley was too old to capitalize though.

Cotto past his prime? I just don't buy this. I think it is a sham argument by people - Cotto fans specifically - who think he is better than he actually was. Once he stepped up to 147 he lost to the best guys he faced. In his prime IMHO. He dominated at 140 and down. He was never big enough for 154 and could/should still fight at 147.

Guerrero will be a tough opponent for Mayweather. Of that I have no doubt. They are the same size, if anything Guerrero looked more like he had cut weight than Floyd did.
