Surprise surprise. Wlad is fighting some one he already beat and someone who is MUCH smaller than him.

In my opinion, he shouldn't even fight Byrd.
He should go after Brewster directly.

This is a good choice for Wlad IMO. Maybe not the choice we would have preferred to see, but he can get some confidence back, the bargaining chip of a belt and then look towards Brewster.

yeah hes not proving anything. He beat bird 5 years ago now fighting a 35 year old byrd is gunna be any different. But on the other hand byrd needs to retire so maybe this could help

I'm pissed at Byrd having the fight him in Germany. Byrd is the champion and last time they met in Germny the promoters tried their level best to unsettle Byrd any way they could. If i were Byrd i`d vacate the belt and go after the winner of Rahman / Toney!

You youngsters don't yet understand marketing and drama. I'm not hatin', not even debatin'. Defeating Byrd re-establishes Wlad as a legitimate champion, just due to the fact that he'll have a meaningless alphabet strap around his waste, and then add that much more drama to the re-match with Brewster, in that it will be one step closer to unification, and therefore will have much broader appeal, ie, will reach out to the casual fan, not just the hard-core Boxing Scene elite! To say nothing of the fact that a defeated Byrd will probably retire, removing one more bore, Ruiz being the first, from the hvy weight division.

Brewster would kick his ass…in my opinion…but Byrd would be a good choice of fight!
