Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs) wants to make it clear to all middleweights - "I'm back." The 27-year-old son of a legend is getting ready for a planned return on June 22, televised on HBO, in either Texas or Mexico.
The three opponents being considered are Matthew Macklin, Domenico Spada and Brian Vera. Chavez will enter the ring for the first time since last September's twelve round decision loss to Sergio Martinez.
Chavez made it clear to reporters in Mexico that "he wants revenge" on Martinez and hopes to get a rematch "later this year." He also said he is "not afraid" to get in the ring with WBA champion Gennady Golovkin and feels confident about his ability to win.
