Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Gearing Up For Return, Not Afraid of Golovkin

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs) wants to make it clear to all middleweights - "I'm back." The 27-year-old son of a legend is getting ready for a planned return on June 22, televised on HBO, in either Texas or Mexico.

The three opponents being considered are Matthew Macklin, Domenico Spada and Brian Vera. Chavez will enter the ring for the first time since last September's twelve round decision loss to Sergio Martinez.

Chavez made it clear to reporters in Mexico that "he wants revenge" on Martinez and hopes to get a rematch "later this year." He also said he is "not afraid" to get in the ring with WBA champion Gennady Golovkin and feels confident about his ability to win.

A fight with Chavez is more exciting, but not as exciting as GGG exposing Martinez.

Out of the three mentioned, I really hope it's Macklin and would settle for Vera if that's the case. It better not be Spada.

Chavez vs Vera in Texas is a no brainer! Vera is from Texas and the drug testing rules are a joke in Texas. All requirements are met. Lol... In all seriousness, though, Chavez vs Vera is a fun fight.

Jr has the chin to stand up to GGG's power, I'd like Chavez in that fight.
