Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Talks Diaz, Showtime Deal, Jabs Kell Brook

Amir “King” Khan returns to a U.K. ring for the first time in two-years on April 27th when he takes on Mexico’s Julio “The Kidd” Diaz at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena. The fight takes place at a catchweight of 143lbs and is Khan’s first on home soil since his sixth-round technical decision win over Belfast’s Paul McCloskey in April 2011.

A lot has changed since the bitty win over McCloskey, which took place at Manchester’s MEN Arena. Khan annexed the WBA and IBF titles in his next fight, a fifth-round KO over Zab Judah, then lost both titles to Lamont Peterson in December of the same year. Khan’s WBA belt was reinstated when Peterson failed a drugs test ahead of their scheduled May 2012 return only for WBC titlist Danny Garica to add to the Bolton-born boxer’s woes with a fourth-round TKO victory last July.

He had a 3 fight deal starting with Peterson, so they had to show Molina but now Sky is Matchroom-only so they probably weren't able to agree a new deal.

sky only wont show his fight because he lost, diaz is a pretty easy fight for khan but he is better than anyone that brook has fought and they still show his fights like hes the next naz, anyone who thinks that brook will beat khan are ****** he is slower than a cruiserweight,he is not a big puncher and does not like to get hit when he does he starts doing laps around the ring.

          Good interview.

Khan seems to be realising his strengths and weaknesses a lot more under Hunter which is vital because he can't be the gung-ho fighter he used to be if he wants to get back to the top at 140.

Diaz is a very winnable fight for Khan, but if he falls into the same old traps he'll get knocked out. He needs to show that he can stick to a gameplan for 12 rounds and not take unnecessary shots. What he can't do is get involved in a scrap against an inferior fighter as Bradley did. Hopefully Hunter is drilling this into Khan. If he can box to his own tune he'll be ready to step it up again against a Lopez or Ortiz before he goes on to fight the winner of the unofficial Goldenboy tournament.

So excited for Khan's comeback. It reminds me of his post Prescott return until he got too confident and began making the same old mistakes. This time, he needs to be a tall and rangy, jab, jab, right type of fighter. Bravery might impress fans but it doesn't win you fights. He can be exciting without being suicidal.

Khans road to redemption is a dandy, first he picks a feather fisted midget in the lamest fight ive seen, and now it looks like he wants to be the new catch weight king.

Sky turning their boxing programming into Matchroom TV is a joke and really annoying... I like Matchroom and their shows, but they need Sky not the other way round, why has Adam Smith chosen to put all his eggs in that basket? Hatton Promotions put on good shows, and Henessey now has a half-decent stable of genuine UK potential but they will all go to Boxnation or Loaded TV now coz Sky has chosen to become Matchroom TV. It baffles me and isnt good for boxing or us paying Sky Sports customers/ boxing fans.

It's not Adam Smith's direction to take. Khan could fight on Sky again, so could Haye. Fact at the moment is that Matchroom has the only fighters that get ratings. As soon as a new star breaks out that people want to see, they will go on Sky. But think about it, outside of Matchroom's fighters, Khan & Haye. Who gets good ratings?

                  Amir Khan is such a ****** c*nt.

"I took a pay checque cut to fight in front of my loyal fans"

LMAO - the same fans he **** on a few years back for not supporting him.

Fact of the matter is he is a loser and Americans don't like losers but Brits do, that's why he is fighting in the UK.

Nobody was going to pay him good money to fight a bum in the states when he is coming off a hilariously embarrassing KO.
