fair or not JMM got his 140 lb belt .. more of a technicality

There's one detail missing in the "Marquez 140 legit champ or not" argument

okay we already know JMM won an interim WBO 140 title. That alone doesn't make him a legit champion at 140

**what made JMM become the champ was Tim Bradley (the full WBO 140 champ) deciding to vacate his 140 lb belt

if you think JMM got his 140 belt on a technicality, that's true, JMM won an Interim belt and got upgraded to the full champion (see underline)

but you can't act like it didn't happen and state an opinion as a fact. JMM is recognized as a belt holder @ 140

not for doing nothing, he won his Interim belt, and was upgraded when Bradley stayed @ Welter.

had Bradley remained at 140 ... and JMM still had his title of Interim WBO champ, okay you could make a case.

      By my logic;

If you win an interim title, you're not a champion.

You cannot be "elevated" to being a champion.

      Quite simple.
well your logic is a bit flawed, because Marquez wasn't champion at 140 for winning the Interim belt. JMM only because champ when the full champ at the time, Tim Bradley .. decided to stay at WW

instead of ragging JMM for "doing nothing" it was because of Tim Bradley (the full WBO belt holder) staying @ Welter, which caused JMM's Interim status to upgrade

      It literally makes no sense.

How can you be an interim Champion and then do nothing[U], and be an actual Champion?

      You can't.
well you don't have to agree with it, but it happened. And yes it does make sense. Interim titles are their so the Champ has to fights his #1 Challenger.

and again the big detail here you're missing is Bradley vacating his 140 lb belt, resulting in JMM's Interim status to upgrade .. no that hard to understand

again you don't have to agree with the ruling, but that's how JMM became recognized as a 140 lb champ .. fair or not

      JMM did it.

he won an Interim belt, and the full champ deciding not to defend that respective title.

Not trying to be rude, but I really don't understand all the confusion.

I mean, you guys are criticizing Marquez for winning against the interim belt against some sub-par eastern European.... but Morales won a vacant belt against Cano, who at the time never fought outside of Mexico, on short notice.
Yea i know the difference between interim and full title is what separates these two title wise, but both fought poo poo competition for the title
you aware that that was for the lineage ? same as when he beat barrera altho no major abc titles were on the stake right?.. you have a point with the 154 title but aint no way you can take away the 140...

oh and speaking of that WBC Super Welter title Pacquiao won .. lets trace the lineage of it

Mayweather beat De La Hoya to pick up the WBC Super Welterweight (154) title

Floyd vacated it, and next Vernon Forrest beat Baldomir to become the next champ

Forrest lost and regained his belt to Sergio Mora. Forrest didn't defend his belt for quite some time and was eventually stripped .. causing the Interim Champ at the time Sergio Martinez to become the full WBC Super Welterweight belt holder

Martinez then vacated his belt @ 154 ... which eventually led to Pac and Margarito fighting for that same vacant belt

so the last recognized belt holder before Pacquiao was a former Interim champ who had his status upgraded.

his 140 wbo belt is a paper belt and pac wasn't world champion at 147 because he got robbed of his belt against bradley..

Pacman was champion of the WBO when JMM took him to school for 12 rounds in 2011. I am not talking about the last fight, I was referring to the one before that when JMM won 9 rounds out of 12 and was still robbed.

It's in the history books, JMM 4 time world champion in as many weight classes.

I find it funny how people try to discredit JMM of a championship but the same people turn around and call "legit" other championship belts that were won in worse forms like catch-weights.

It wasn't official but we all know who won. No way was that fight a draw, pacman looked awful that night he didn't land NOT EVEN ONE significant combination. That night I knew pacman was done, but I was surprised in December 8, pacman looked good. We will see how he comes back.

I think pacman should fight bradley for his belt, it would be a great comeback victory and would make him champion again.
