Well Hopkins did. He got the decision.

Well making a thread to make a point like this? Seems weird.
My view on the Hopkins/Cloud fight. I'm a HUGE Cloud fan.
There were two rounds during the fight that were solid rounds for Hopkins, and there was one round were Cloud solidly won it. I'll rewatch to get the round numbers at some point, but that's what I remember.
The rest were close and depends entirely how you score fights. Some people score rounds to fighters who throw less, but look professional doing it. Others score the fight to fighters who throw more and try to press the action (which isn't the same as just throwing punches). Both ways are legitimate, the rules to scoring fights are vague and subjective at best. I'm concerned people scored that fight with this criteria: if Cloud didn't look great, Hopkins automatically got it because of his style. That's not what I do.
I scored it 115-113 Hopkins. I can't see a Cloud victory anywhere, but I can see how, if someone was being generous to Cloud, you could score it a draw, but it'd be a minority verdict. There was no domination so to speak. Hopkins just looked better than a guy who landed less than half he threw, though Cloud may have landed more in total. It's interesting

I had it a draw because I don't just give a guy a round for looking good for a few seconds. Hopkins has all the skills in the world and you know what? He didn't even foul Cloud in this fight. I am not sure I have ever seen a fight in which Hopkins fought as clean as in this one.
I always like to watch him box cause he has one of the highest ring IQ's I have ever seen. That being said, I still don't think Hopkins won the fight. At least not on my scorecard.

i had it 117-112, i had the first round even. there was another round i could have given to cloud making it 116-113...and if i scored the first round for him it would be 115-113 hopkins.
there were some close rounds but hopkins definitely won

But you ducked the thread cause it hurt too much.
By the way, let me guess: you scored Calzaghe vs Hopkins for B-Hop, right?Last edited by raskat; 03-12-2013, 01:49 AM.
