I think Chavez Jr is a silver spoon in his mouth, WBC protected daddy's boy. And I think Arum is the devil himself. But given that cannibus has zero performance enhancing qualities, 900k is too steep.

when did Arum become a Constitutional lawyer?

          sit your ass down Bob
One doesn't have to be a Constitutional lawyer. The clause in not hidden, anyone can cheack it, even you. He's a first class tax lawyer, a Harvard Law School graduate Summa Cum Laude. The best in the world. So you have to give him some credit. Personally I've never seen any real reason for the ecessively critical comments on this site, especially from those who obviously never pay a cent to watch his big promotions-if they can find a way around it.

And he was the head of Edward Kennedy's tax department where he worked for 7 years immediately before he became a boing promoter.

The hugely excessive fine drew heavy criticism from every side.

Is 900,000 dollars considered excessive? Percentage wise its only 30% of his reported income for that fight and you would have to argue that 30% is excessive.
If you take away the promoter fees, trainer, 41.9% taxes, it amounts to almost his whole take. Roughly speaking that is.

I suppose the NSAC are going to send some of that down to the Texas Commission....

I'm no fan of Jr. but that is a hefty fine for smoking a little weed. I honestly think Jr. is being nickled and dimed by the athletic commission.
