Just turn the channel, or push mute when Broner comes on.

    It's what I do.

As soon as Rees was done with his entrance, and I saw Broner with the McDonalds head gear, I laughed, and walked outside to have a square.

As soon as the fight was over, I changed the channel to something different.

If you don't like Broners mouth or antics, it's pretty easy to get around.

Or you can watch every thing he does, and ***** about it
    .
    Well said. Love the bolded.

Thats pretty much what it comes down to.

Some of you are just sensitive lil girls and need to grown up.
Nothing Broner does is detrimental to the sport or the fans.
Go wash that sand out of your vag and calm down.

I don't see why personality should play no part in whether you like a boxer or not. I know I like some fighters more than others because I respect them tremendously or think they're cool people.

So we should be more accepting because we're conscious of what's going on?

        Er, no.

If anything, it's more aggravating because we're aware of just how contrived it is.

Broner, like Floyd, plays up on a persona that is designed to create resentment. It's kind of silly to then turn around and complain about being hated on (as Floyd is prone to do, and some of his fans).
I expect hardcore fans to judge solely on what he does in the ring, or anything having to do with his opponent selection; politics, don't understand the bitchiness around these boards, none of us here have to live with the guy, Sweet Pea 50 pretty said it, if it's that bothersome don't watch any of the promotion, simply anything that doesn't involve what he does in the ring.

I bring up casuals because during the Mayweather-Hatton/ DLH build up, people on these boards were complaining about the same crap, you had casuals who didn't understand what going into character is, Floyd even admitted he does this, he's said it many times.

If it was a new thing to have a gimmick to hook casual fans and draw numbers, I could understand the complaining. But anyone who's watched boxing long enough or has studied its history knows that there have been unsavoury characters throughout. If EVERY boxer was all smiles and like Joe Louis when interviewed, it would be pretty bland when building a big fight. Boxers do things to get under their opponents' skin, they do things to rile a potential audience or to put themselves over (in a good light or bad). How many Trout or Ward threads do we see on these boards everyday? Exactly.

It's cool to have an opinion about different fighters' personas, but to get so precious about it and go so far as to cast aspersions on other people just because they like the way said fighter performs is weird at best, disturbing at worst. Some of the best fights have had "Hero and Villain" build ups and the hero is nothing without the villain. Just remember, we don't know these people, only what tv, magazines and internet show us. I try to ultimately judge a fighter by the criteria that's important. How they box/fight (that IS why we watch them, right). I might not like them, but I sure respect them for doing something I can only watch and write about.

I'd like to see what all these moral judges would do to stand out in a brutal sport saturated with talent when it's your living at stake.

I just dunno how anyone can be a fan of this guy.
I guess that's the type of society we live in nowadays.
What don't you get? Whats so hard to understand about a young fighter with an entertaining style having fans?

Not much else can be said, Green K man. In the bold, true, as talented and as accomplished as Ward is, Broner is getting more hits, sad but true.

Exactly. The Boxing Hall of fame is filled with "unsavory characters".

                Great point.

I wouldn't steal wholesale from an act that was pretty lame to begin with.

That's what I love about Ward, he keeps it real. His mean streak is reserved for the ring, he doesn't need to play at something.

I'm an adult, I don't need fighters coming at me with pre-packaged one-liners.

This. Good promoters know you need a villain and a hero to make a ton of money. For example, Pacquiao has always been promoted as the hero and the congressman. I just shaked my head after the Hatton fight when the HBO guy told him to get down and pray, and Pac just instantly did it while the cameras were filming him. With Floyd it's the opposite, he's the ultimate ******* douchebag. I understand that casual fans fall for it ( and that's what promomoters want ), but when I see guys posting on boxingsite that are supposed to be die hard fan who don't understand this simple marketing part of the sport, I think it's kind of sad. It's as pathetic as a die-hard wrestling fan who still think wrestling is not fake.

Btw that's why I think Pac-FLoyd would have been the greatest fight in a long time, it really was the ultimate match-up. It's a shame it didnt happen

I agree with you, Ward is also my favorite fighter. A low profile guy who speaks with his hands in the ring. However I also know that in the future Broner will make way more money than Ward, just because he's making so many haters promote himself for free. In the future you'll see hundreds of thread about Broner but way less for Ward.
