But he would always have a punchers chance against a guy who was willing to rumble.

I've watched this fight more times than I can remember, over 50 easily, and have come to one dark conclusion. It wasn't accumulation of small punches. It was big shots to the back of the head that did it.. if you take a good look at the rabbit punch landed on G-man in the corner, which was landed right before Nigel's headbutt attempt in round nine, you'll notice shortly after this G-man takes a voluntary knee, and continues his periodic blinking. This is where the blinking started, and it wasn't 10 seconds after one of the hardest rabbit punches I've ever seen land, in ANY match, for that matter. What made this rabbit punch different from the others, was the fact that G-man was moving his head from a chin tucked position, upward, when he got caught with the rabbit punch, increasing the actual damage of the punch marginally.. not only that, but Benn setup that vicious brutal rabbit punch with a nice straight right hand that landed flush.

You'll notice that after this little combination landed, is when G-man starts looking out for himself. He knows something went wrong, he takes a knee, and decides to see what the **** the deal is. After this, short, 1-2 combination, there's no doubt in my mind G-man was damaged goods. I know this because if you watch G-man come out in round ten, he's 100% defense, trying to just last out the fight, and it isn't because he's tired either, because if you watch him circle to his right about 5 seconds into the round, you'll see him do a little thing with his glove many fighters do to confirm their equalibrium, they touch their forehead with their glove and that's exactly what G-man was doin while running away from Benn at the beginning of round 10. he knew he was hurt.

After this, Benn lands a vicious right short right hook inside that puts down G-man, and on the way down he lands yet another shot on the poor mother****er's brain stem. and this shot is what sealed the deal.(the initial right hook) If you'll take a closer look at this punch, and see it about 20-30 times rewound, you'll see that it's not only Benn's best punch, but the way it lands is just, well, flush.

Benn caused this man all the problems he's facing by hitting on the back of the head with intensity, there's no doubt in my mind..But you would too, I guarantee it, if a guy came at you in the first round like this.
    (gif is in my sig)

it was about survival. you do what you have to do to win when you're compromised, and when benn went through the ropes, he decided **** it, I'm gonna rabbit punch to victory. isn't his fault, it's just a warrior instinct.

Yeah I took a deep breath when he cried when he heard RJJ got KTFO

Benn really wants to help this guy he even went on a UK reality TV show call 'Im a celeb get me outta here' so he could pass his appearance money onto the family but they dont want it. They dont forgive him. Benn is a born again christian and I know suffers daily about that fight and his one wish in life is to meet Gerald and help him but this wont happen.

I also hear not sure of the truth of this that locals put out a hit on Benn which is yet to be cashed.

he was a victim of his own style.

take a quick look at history. any power puncher that had alot of fights that ended early, didn't have a long career, and if it was long the glory days were SHORT. for 2 reasons, one, they don't get the proper ring experience that fighters who go the distance do, giving them a severe disadvantage when facing a top echelon fighter who's fought more rounds. and two, powerpunchers get hit coming in.. When you get hit while coming in, the shot that hits you has a damage modifier on it, since you were coming in with your own leverage you met the other guy's shot.

this usually happens every time a good aggressive powerpuncher goes up against someone with about the same fighting experience as them. a great example is the skilled miguel cotto, every recent fight he's been in he's taken a good shot comin in with his own big shot, and every time they dazed the **** out of him, it's the powerpuncher's plight.

that's why technical fighters last longer. longer glory days, due to more ring experience and less head trauma.

Nigel Benn hit Gerald McClellan with about 100,000 knockout punches, and about two or three slight taps to the back of the head. In Britain, it's totally unheard of that a couple of little rabbit punches that we didn't even notice caused brain damage to McClellan. It's total news to us that American's have found this bull****. However, Nigel Benn, the most hardest puncher we've ever seen on these shores (constantly put guys into hospital with single shots in his first 22 fights before calming down due to losses), telling us before the fight that he'll bring back his punch is thought to be, quite possibly (sarcasm), the reason that McClellan got put into a wheelchair. Gerald is extremely lucky that he didn't die, he had no right to taken so many punches from the hardest hitter there has been, punches that had left others hospitalised after one round or a couple of rounds whereas McClellan just stood and took them for 10 rounds.

I'd suggest you watch Benn's first 22 fights, then you'll realise just how lucky McClellan is that he came out alive!

Slipx must've kept his eyes shut during that fight & missed the countless left hooks, uppercuts & straight rights Benn landed flush on McClellan. Sorry to dissapoint you but that's what done the damage, not a few rabbit punches.
