Originally posted by SweatRussians are usually heavy guys.. so, he sparring guys that are like way bigger than him??). There's a Ukranian now residing in Germany who is WBA Bantamweight champ, and there was a Russian World Flyweight Champ, who transplanted himself to Japan, named Yuri Arbachokov. He ruled the WBC version of the division from 1992 to 1997 and retired, after losing the title to Chaitchai Sasakul in September 1997, with a record of 23-1 (16 KOs). All told, I think he had 9 or 10 ssuccessful defenses. Hall of Fame probable.
So, there's a handful of those types.
But, what is the chance of 2 or 3 Russians getting together in SoCal to stack themselves up against Pacquiao? What are the chances of somebody being so close ("the gym is small") missing the exact count of how many Russians were there?
And, the guy's friend who is said to be a member of Team USA, there to "sparrow" with Pac? An amateur towing the brother of a friend to watch him get slaughtered by one of the biggest hitters in the Jr. Lightweight- Jr. Featherweight class? I haven't ever heard of Freddie Roach enlisting the help of an amateur to prepare his boys for huge fights. This is a first.
From what I could read from your post, I am guessing we share the same thoughts.
And that thing about "sparrow". The "...eyes are on the sparrow..."* And, sparrows seldom sit/stand at ringside. They have the (cat)bird's seat. Up in the rafters. Or, perched on a powerline out there...
* A line from a Christian church song.
