Well Arum is right about it but is cool seeing Cotto standing up for himself. Cotto needs a team around him that knows boxing and that can scout the guys that cotto will face. Arum would have put Cotto-Bundrage insted and no one would have complained.
I thought Bradley was a fine opponent and also don't think Guerrero is a bad opponent. I'd obviously prefer Floyd to fight Martinez, but it makes sense to take on a little easier challenge before facing bigger guys. This isn't to say he is going to face Martinez since he is apparently looking at Canelo, but I can understand the decision to fight Guerrero at least.
I'm a huge Floyd critic & I am in love with the Floyd/Ghost fight. If the ref lets the Ghost fight how he did against Berto, that fight suddenly becomes very interesting.
Im not quite there yet, but my mind is starting to head down that path. What good reason is there for mayweather to pass on canelo, to fight a smaller/inferior fighter in guerrero....on cinco de mayo? Canelo, each fight, is proving himself to be a strong, dangerous youthful fighter. Absolutely demolished a guy that broke victor ortiz' jaw. Funny you should say 'what has canelo done'? Let me throw that back at you....what has guerrero done?
Inb4 mayweather fights an inferior fighter in guerrero, then pushes hard as hell to get a fight with pacquiao. Mayweather isnt getting any younger, and canelo is only getting better.
Canelo and Martinez are two fights id like to see for mayweather before he retires. Sadly, ill feel extremely fortunate if just one of those fights happen. Robert guerrero....really?
It's very simple, If Mayweather chooses to fight Guerrero instead of Canelo it's because he has to defend his WBC welterweight title. He won the WBC welterweight title from Victor Ortiz in Sept of 2011 and then went on to win the WBA jr. middleweight title from Cotto in May of 2012. A fighter has a year to defend his belt before it's stripped and the WBC allowed Mayweather to keep his belt because of his jail sentence . Floyd is obviously attempting to hold down 2 titles in two different weight classes and since his last fight was for the Jr. middleweight belt, It's now time for him to defend his welter weight title so it doesn't get stripped. Canelo has done nothing for a fighter of Mayweather's caliber to duck

plus, Robert Guerrero happens to be the interim wbc welter weight title holder so floyd has to fight him. You cant get mad at someone for fighting a mandatory challenger even if it is guerrero. I would rather see him fight canelo my damn self so all the hype can be put to rest!
Now Cotto fans see what Arum is all about. Bad mouth his former fighter's every move, try to make him look ******, make things up about offers he made, and just trying to smear the character of Miguel Cotto when actually Miguel Cotto has already made enough money to retire with just two fights away from Top Rank.
Cotto did a favor for the sport. He gave a dangerous, avoided, tough, young fighter a chance to shine.
Meanwhile the sports 2 biggest draws have done nothing but cherrypick.
agree, nothing but respect should be given to miguel cotto for giving austin trout a shot. that said, even with cotto losing the fight i'm sure he's still going to fight alvarez in may. that or he gets a soft touch next and alvarez faces him later in 2013. miguel cotto is still a very marketable name, gbp isn't going to let that go to waste.
Well Cotto is a stand up guy that's not afraid of facing top contenders in his division. And if it was ****** for Cotto to face Trout, then it was ****** to have Pacquiao face Marquez.

Oh yeah and one more thing, Guerrero has accomplished more in boxing than canelo has, just do the research and also in your comment you criticize the match up of Mayweather vs Guerrero because Guerrero is supposedly the "smaller/inferior fighter" but then you praise Canelo for demolishing Josesito Lopez who was a smaller and inferior fighter, Josesito only had 1 fight at welterweight and before going up to jr, middleweight to fight canelo, and it was clear from the start that canelo was too big for lopez
