Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto Plans To Remain: I'm Not Finished Yet!

Austin Trout roughed up Miguel Cotto late to win a 12-round unanimous decision and retain his share of the 154-pound title Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Trout remained unbeaten and used lopsided scores of 117-111, 119-109 and 117-111 to end Cotto's run as the undisputed champion of the New York fight scene. Trout (26-0) handed Cotto (37-4) his second straight defeate. Cotto dropped a twelve round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May.

Cotto, you had a great career. Bt I'd say it's time to throw in the towel. When you lose to an up and comer like Trout, I don't see you making any more impact in the sport. It means your best days are past you. Trout is a hell of a fighter, and up and comer. But he pretty much controlled most of the fight though I dont think by that much of a margin as the judges scored it. But it was clear Cotto was out classed. When you lose to a young fighter clearly, who else do you plan to beat that matters?

Cotto does everything good but has nothing great!! For example mayweather has great defense and accuratesy Pacquiao has great angles and offense Gamboa great foot work etc...
I still think he shouldn't retire bc hes still a draw and he can pick and choose opponents and pay days!! Plus everybody and their mothers wants to fight this guy!!!
You can make big money fighting him and have a chance at beating him!!
I like cotto and he's trainer and wish him the best

Cotto can fight someone closer to his age with a name and make tonnes of money. He can go down to 147lbs and fight the likes of Alexander,Bradley and Pacquiao and make money. If he wins his next fight he can have a rematch with Mayweather. At this age what these guys need to do is let the up and comers fight themselves, forget the world titles, fight for money.

This is a perfect example of why boxers end up getting hurt and humiliate themselves. Cotto is a shot fighter, has been for a while. He has nothing left in the tank. Last night he lost to a not so good fighter with no power. Not taking anything away from Trout, but any hard puncher would have knocked Canelo out last night. I don't want to hear: he had an off night or he will be back stronger! Bullschit, he is done and should retire now that he is still healthy and before people use him as a stepping stone and as an easy name to add a shine to their resume'. In my honest opinion though, he will keep fighting just for the money. He looked like crap physically and just all the way around. Canelo would totally put a beat down on cotto.

Great fight, both guys leavin it all out there. Trout reminds me of a young dawson before chads workrate went way down hill. he fights tall and uses that good jab. miguel has def slowed a bit and is fighting in spots more then he ever did. Cotto was a great champ, but i do believe he needs to fight at 147 though. bird shouls be outed from scoring as 119-109 was real rough. I am kinda happy though, cause the ginger fight should be off now. Didn't want to see miguel take that beating. wonder if canelo wants to try trout now? doubt it peace ya'll

                  Thats what great fighter do.

They dont go on silly consecutive vacation to avoid legitimate threats.

                  Cotto is a throwback fighter.
