Well if Margarito wasn't a flat footed slugger who didn't move his ****in head he would have avoided some of those shots to his face and been able to finish the fight.

The second fight he hardly got hit with any clean punches like he did in the first fight. He used the distance much better, clinched in close, turned Margarito more and made him reset more. He also got off first in nearly every exchange.

He wasn't getting stopped. It was a completely different fight and Margarito wasn't remotely as effective. Cotto didn't get hit and hurt to the body at all in the second fight. The first fight had some brutally clean body shots throughout the whole fight, and Cotto would just stand there and take them.

The second round tells you all you need to know. First fight, Cotto landed his usual eye catching combos, but, Margarito lands a right hand to the body about a minute in that literally doubles Cotto over after which Margarito lands some big combos plus a right to the head that staggers Cotto and then he basically takes a pounding to the body and head. That didn't happen once in the second fight at any point.
