Comments Thread For: Kovalev vs. Campillo Shifted To January 19 on NBC SN?

According to sources close to Sergey Kovalev (19-0-1, 17KOs), a hard-hitting Russian light heavyweight prospect, he is tentatively set to collide with former WBA champion Gabriel Campillo (21-4-1, 8 KOs), 33, on January 19 of 2013. A potential venue is the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was a host for Kovalev’s two recent outings versus Darnell Boone (TKO 2) and late sub Lionell Thompson (TKO 3), who replaced Campillo in September.

Let's see if Kovalev can back up his big mouth. Nobody has been able to kick Campillo's ass yet.

Well, That's not completly true Uzelkov did KO him for the 10 count with a partial elbow or not and he has been down or hurt several other times

The winner should be in line for the top of the division

It doesn't count if you have to use your elbow to take him out. No one has beating Campillo legit in my eyes.

Campillo could easily be undeefeated and one of his best wins was his trouncing of Cloud. That was one of the most dominant performances a fighter could have and yet they robbed him. He has some excellent Boxing skills.

cool fight. Kovalev has one of the shortest, quickest right hands ive seen lately. pretty tricky punch to see. hard to pick against Campillo's skill and adaptability but I'm leaning toward Kovalev's athleticism in this one.
