Are you really this dense Perro? Im taking about when Cotto said he'll sit down and see what he brings to the table.

    Which is nothing.

Cotto has long been a favorite of mine, I like Sergio too, but whether it be 160 or 154, Martinez would KO Cotto. Floyd had Cotto ready to go in round 12, Sergio hits harder and would land as many if not more clean shots than Floyd did. I would rather see Cotto vs Canelo and Floyd vs Martinez, both fights at JMW, then see the winners fight each other late summer next year.

The whole "he doesn't bring enough money to the table" excuse is commonly used when the challenger is a favorite or at least has a substantial chance to win. If I were on Sergio's team or Sergio, I would give cotto the lions share of the purse and then come fight time, beat the brakes off of him on the world stage. Sometimes success is the worst thing to happen to a fighter. Makes all the money fighters avoid them

Since Martinez's fights against Barker, Macklin and rounds 3, 6[I think] and 12 against Chavez Jr I now think Martinez vs Cotto is actually a good fight, and Cotto would do better than he would have done against the Martinez that was beating up on Pavlik, Dzinzuruk and TKO'ed/fought a close fight against Williams.

Unfortunately, I don't think Martinez brings more money for Cotto than a fight against Canelo or even Chavez Jr. Those are the two fights Cotto should be chasing if he can get past Trout. I would love to first see the winner of Lara-Vanes get Canelo, because their fight is a final WBC elim and it would not be fair to make them wait again. Unless they can make a deal to wait and guarantees them the winner of Canelo-Cotto/Trout.

Any way, I just want to ask any one out there. I understand Martinez isn't the biggest name out there for Cotto but what about Austin Trout? What kind of money does he bring to Cotto? Martinez has had way more exposure and is known more than Trout, also has a lot more popular wins than Trout has. Also, Martinez can now say "I've headlined an HBO PPV and sold hundreds of thousands of PPVs". The most I can think Trout brings is a title, but Martinez brings two titles, Ring/WBC at 160. It would give Cotto the chance of being champion in 4 weight classes and getting the first Ring title of his career.

Sergio just used the same excuse for GGG.

Don't get it twisted about Sergio. I love the guy but saying he wants to fight everyone is utter bull**** and you know it. He wants to fight Mayweather (#1 Money Maker), Cotto (#3 Money Maker), I heard Canelo being thrown around (#4 Money Maker). What about the tough 168 fights? Fights against top guys in his division? Don't try to kid yourself thinking he wants to give the fans good fights, it only seems that way because he doesn't see the kind of money they make and he wants some of the action. If he'd be at their level already he'd want to avoid tough fights more so than now.

But...cotto is using this excuse after taking a fight with Austin trout. AUSTIN TROUT...who brings zero dollars to the table, has zero fan base and outside of devout boxing fans, nobody knows who he is.

Im aware. Just like Macklin, Barker etc brought no money to the table.

Cotto fighting Trout actually shows that he will fight anyone. But if he doesnt want to fight a MW i wont blame him.

He does want to fight everybody. But "everyone" is relative. He wants to fight everyone who is a big star. Which is what every fighter at Martinez's age wants to do.

Leonard fought greats like Duran, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez, but those WERE big money fights.

Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo, Chavez Jr happen to be great/good/okay fighters who coincidentally are also big money fights. That's why Sergio wants to fight them.
