You exaggerate Chavez' accomplishments by tallying up these mishaps as if they were significant in any way. It's just rhetoric. Sergio DID dominate the fight.

      1. Bad cuts mean nothing, they are caused many times by "scraping" punches that partially miss the target.

      2. Chavez didn't "have him break his hand", Martinez broke his hand from repeatedly making contact with Chavez' skull.

      3. Chavez didn't "have him destroy his knees", Martinez is old and hurt his KNEE (singular, one knee) from doing so much dancing in the ring during the process of totally out boxing Chavez.

      4. Yes, he knocked him down and almost finished him with 1 minute to go in a 36 minute fight. Too little too late.

Now please reevaluate your argument by simply focusing on and celebrating the late knock down because that's the ONLY thing Chavez did in the fight that he deserves some credit for.

If it had been in early in the fight, I don't think Martinez would be able to be so mobile. Some of you sound like it happened early in the fight. I don't believe that. I think it was from the KD.

Chavez got to him numerous times. He just didn't do anything about it. He got off way to late to do anything. Waiting for Martinez to be out of breath was his only chance in the end - and he almost succeeded.

Martinez pulled a great performance but Chavez is not a "bum" as many on BS portrait him as. He's not fast, he doesn't win fights because of his athletism. He wins because he is big, strong, powerful and has a lot of heart. He's a former champion and a strong contender. Andy Lee is a contender. Martinez is a champion.

Chavez Jr. can still be top 3 in the division. There's no one out there with Martinez' style. Chavez can run through most of them just because of size and power alone. He'll be back, unless Martinez has affected his mental state.

Who should Sergio fight next? Golovkin? Quillin?
i agree i think martinez hurt his knee either on the knockdown or the slip in the 12th. he was too mobile to have hurt it early. i think the headbutt in the 11th round is what hurt martinez the most & made him vulnerable in the 12th. chavez took a serious beating but was able to take martinez's punches very well. he had his moments but martinez was just to mobile. the size difference at fight time was very noticable. chavez looked so much bigger then martinez. i bet he put on 15-20lbs after the weighin. both men showed heart & courage. i would say no need for a rematch but because of chavez's late success i say it has to be considered. who knows how long martinez will be out for. this reminded me of the bute\andrade fight.

lol@ whoever is speculating he tore his ACL. That's not exactly an injury that would allow you to continue fighting let alone stand up and walk.

Yeah if he tore his acl he would of been rolling on the canvas in agony and he would need help walking, i'm hoping its just a knee sprain.

Speculation. I think he could have easily hurt it from being "too mobile" and simply didn't notice until after the fight when his adrenaline levels decreased to normal.

DiBella better put his foot down and tell TR F Texas and F Cowboys stadium. Arum will no doubt try and stack the deck in Jrs favor with a tiny ring, Texas judges, and no piss tests.

The whole time I'm watching the fight, I'm thinking, "the day Martinez gets a serious knee injury, his career is over". Don't get me wrong, Martinez is among my top 2 favorite fighters, but the way he fights, his legs need to be on point and then some.
