Originally posted by Ravens Fan View PostI cut and pasted some of the quotes that were attributed to Calzaghe and I Googled them. And the only thing that popped up was the same article that is linked in this thread. So, I have to ask who wrote it and why can it only be found on one site? Are we suppose to believe it just because someone found it on the web with no real sources? I also just read online that dinosaurs were roaming the Earth only six thousand years ago. Should I believe that as well?

Calzaghe explaining why he was reluctant to move up to lhw back in 03:
Yet Calzaghe's confession to an aversion to travel, and concerns about a future match with the brilliant Roy Jones Jnr, confirms he has a grip on reality"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best fight he's ever had," said Calzaghe. "But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown ***els I wouldn't want to risk it." There's honesty for you

The television network, which holds the rights to cover all Jones fights, and has a major say in who he fights,Lou Di Bella said yesterday: "I haven't heard Steve's name mentioned in weeks. I think Reggie Johnson, the IBF champion, is the favourite to face Jones in May." HBO and Sky had discussed a financial purse to put together Collins-Jones. But Di Bella added: "Sky haven't heard anything recently about Steve either. I would like to see him fight Joe Calzaghe with the winner meeting Jones

Originally posted by THE ИATAS View Postthat's a silly statement weebler. Yeah calzaghe didn't lose to anyone cuz his resume is straight garbage. If Calzaghe fought the same kind of fights as hopkins did he would have lost too. I reckon if Joe fought into his 40's he would have lost as well. Besides Roy Jones, all of Hopkins losses come at the age of 40+. Taylor, Calzaghe & Dawson- 40, 43 & 47.
Likewise if Hopkins fought Joe type opponents and retired at 37 I'm sure he would have been undefeated as well.
I wasn't comparing Hopkins and Calzaghe, we already saw that comparison in the ring in '07.Last edited by Weebler I; 09-03-2012, 04:04 PM.

There's no point in you referencing my logic when you deliberately mis-interpret it.
Taylor fought Hopkins in his own country and lost to other fighters brutally, Calzaghe didn't lose to others he beat everyone else: Eubank, Reid, Mitchell, Lacy, Bika, Kessler, Hopkins, Jones...and he fought B-Hop 8,000 miles from home.
Just to say I don't think Calzaghe has the strongest resume either but it's respectable and certainly not worthy of all the vitriol aimed by daggum and one or two others.
Yeah, Bernard 'I'll never lose to a white boy' Hopkins had an off night...
