whether it puts me in a win win situation, its still the truth. there have been numerous elite level fighters who have suffered injuries on the level of ortiz', but for the most part, most of them fought through it. u can name one or two who didnt, im sure, i never thought u couldnt. but that doesnt take away from the fact. its things like this that separate the elite from the very good.

      Anyone?
You think he will go back down to Jnr Welterweight? I hope he doesn't get roped into fighting Canelo at 154 lol

Possibly or he fights someone like Kell Brook at 147.

Your post made me realize something. I should be giving him a lot more credit for beating Ortiz. I was thinking Ortiz was probably distracted, underestimated Lopez, that Ortiz fought a ****** fight, etc. But beating Ortiz at 147 is a very impressive win for a Jnr Welterweight.

Many fighters have had broken jaws. I can't remember any of them having career problems afterward. You know what else I can't remember... any of them quitting. Not one.
and who is to say that it was not going to get worse they still had three rounds left and lopez was turning it on. the bottom line is ortiz did the smart thing "live to fight another day" or get ruined for the rest of your career

Not all elite fighters have had their jaws broken so there really is no way to know whether all the greats would be willing to continue if that happened to them. We assume they would, but I don't know if there are enough examples to assume that everyone would do it. "elite" fighters have quit for much less than that

You know what was unheard of? It was the light-punching Lopez breaking Ortiz' jaw.

Much respect to Ortiz! Crazy he fought on as long as he did with those injuries. He'll take Lopez out in the rematch. Hope he fires that garbage trainer of his in the mean time.

there have been plenty of elite fighters who have had their jaws broken and almost everyone of them continued. and there have been those who have quit for less, like duran. but duran didnt make a habit out of doing it. rafa didnt make a habit out of doing it, ****, even fishnets didnt make a habit out of doing it.

And there's no stopping them. They feel that they are right and everyone else is wrong and that Ortiz should have continued.
It's not even about the jaw with them, it's just an excuse to hate on Ortiz. They hated him before the fight and are latching on to whatever they can get.

How do you know unless they each have a double fracture of the jaw and are swallowing blood?
