Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Sergio Martinez: what's your prediction?

2. Chavez is no macklin. Chavez is a huge middleweight
3. I agree 100%. If it goes down like last night I got chavez
4. Martinez always slows down mid fight and catches a second wind. He most certainly wears down in fights. Think chavez and his pressure turn the fight about the same time martinez takes his mid fight break

I think Chavez tries to walk Martinez down and catches left, after left, after left to the face until his eye is a swollen mess. The ref tries to let it continue but Martinez beats his face up so bad that Roach himself decides to stop the fight.

gameplan and adjustments are two completely different things. Martinez should win and is the better fighter. I just don't think sergio can keep the fight in the center of the ring and if it gets on the ropes, chavez is too big and strong. Add to that the toughness that chavez has shown and it's a problem for sergio

2. Martinez is no defensive specialist
3. Chavez will land those shots on anyone in the divsion because of 4
4. Physically chavez is way too big for sergio. Chavez has a legit chin. Martinez will slow down naturally during the fight and as soon as he see's chavez walk through his shots he'll mentally fatigue.
The thing that changed my mind on jr is his toughness. At some point in each fight he breaks his opponents will. It's a scary feeling when you land on your opponent and he just keeps coming. That to me is very impressive.

Originally posted by mathed View PostTake a look at everyone Martinez beats, he breaks their face down to pieces. He will target Chavez' right eye with straight lefts to the point that he might go blind from the damage. Martinez is a distance fighter with excellent mobility and boxing skills....and very good power. I don't care how much bigger Chavez is than Martinez, his face will begin to break down and the fact that Chavez is an inside fighter with no jab going against a guy with a longer reach tells me that Jr is going to be in for a rough night.
Also no debating that a fighter who can give him problems is a big tough pressure fighter.
Chavez fits the bill......................can't believe I am saying this but I have seen the light. He would get whooped by more than a couple of the super middle's but I don't see these smaller middleweights keeping him off.

What sergio does is fight down to the level of his opponents until he decides to figure them out and take them out.
