In the world of boxing, there have been countless thrilling battles in the past thirty years. You know the names. The Ali-Frazier trilogy. Duran-Leonard I. Hagler-Hearns, certainly. More recently, the Holyfield-Bowe trilogy. Barrera-Morales even. There are too many to mention. These exhilarating fights have been watched again and again by fans and have never ceased to please.

What makes me angry is that it should have ended in a 1st round knockout win for Gerald. Instead of what ended up happening.
Then again if he was already having headaches after the Julian Jackson fight then perhaps brain damage was going to be his fate down the line anyway. None of us can really say.

Mclellan was a monsterous puncher, as was Benn.
In the first round Mclellan caught benn and sent him through the ropes, the fight went on and was brutal, Benn roughed up and mauled Mclellan on the inside and mclellan landed his bombs from the outside, but Mclellan began to start blinking repeatedly as the fight went on.
Mclellan took a knee and should have been pulled out of the fight but he wasnt, it went on and Benn landed more shots, mclellan went down again and never got up the same man, he is now mostly deaf and blind and has brain damage.
Steve Bunce recounted that Mclellan was recovering well in london with a world class neurosurgeon who advised him to remain there a while and not to fly as it would be bad for his condition at that time, but someone thought he could get better care in the US, he flew back and in hospital in the US he had major complications accounting for most of his current condition.
It's a shame

Ben brutally and repeatly rabbit punched the man in the back of the head all night which resulted in Gerald being permanently brain damaged but nobody wants to talk about that.

McClellan threw just as many punches to the back of the head.

He was just a dog-murdering bully that simply didn't have the heart of the British lion.
He blinded defenceless animals and now he is blind himself. Sorry, but it's poetic justice.Last edited by Snotgobbler; 06-16-2012, 04:48 AM.

Ref was terrible, Benn was in a war. The ref should have stopped it, or deducted points. But also no one can say that those rabbit punches were the cause of Geralds condition. People get rabbit punched all the time and dont end up like that.
Its entirely possible they did contribute, but there are many other factors. So we dont know.

Plus, how is it poetic justice that his sister has to deal with him everyday? And the fact that Benn wanted to end his life because he was so depressed over what happened.
There is no poetic justice here.

I dont think Gerald did throw as many rabbit punches at all.
