Obviously he saw the unbeaten Franco as too big of a threat. I doub't like *** he would have turned down the money if the other guy's name was "TBA" or "battle tested" or "comes to win" or a number of other ways to describe a 10-6 or 8-3 or 16-13 record fighter. Thats lacking confidence because this was a high exposure opportunity for him that he passed up. Looks like he's another Prima Donna.

Franco must have been viewed as to "risky" and now they'll look for a 14 loss nobody for double the money
Russell/Fortuna would be my prefered choice of opponent by years end

Franco, a Cuban, is a solid fighter, but he's 30; and he's no Gamboa or Rigondeaux. I want to see both men fight, especially Russell, and especially against good opposition. Too bad about this nonsense....

Gary Russell Jr. is still very early in his career, stop trying to rush him along, he will get to the tougher competition when he is ready
fans complain when a fighter is being rushed along and overrated and overhyped and is handed titles by defeating BUMS in a Vacant Bout...but then they complain about fighters who choose to work their way to the top slowly...the guy just turned 24 last week...WTF is the RUSH?
