I feel he played on it, it was an arm punch which hit his cheek (inner glove at that) he then rolled his eyes back, raised his glove pulling some ****** face and preceded to fall back and pretend to have a fit. It was a seriously delayed reaction.
I don't feel it was that bad, a jab actually clipped Dirrell as he slipped (could of counted as a knockdown) it wasn't that delayed as say Pac hitting Marquez when he was down in I believe the 2nd fight.
Maybe I am wrong, I don't know as it wasn't me taking the shot but from what I seen I genuinely believe he was looking for a way out.
He should seek a return with Abraham who probably gets the WBO belt soon. That would make a statement. Or maybe try to get Ward since he weaseled out of that fight with the infamous Dr. Shaw-hi comedic act.
my only problem with him is that he hasn't finished fights like a champion. durability is a question mark for me but that is not to diss his record or skills. The Abraham incident aside, the way he schooled Froch only to begin flopping around and taking knees rather easily was extremely frustrating because he had to know that he had to finish strong over in the UK no matter what. The same pattern started to develop right before the illegal blow AA threw, so I still think that is something that we might see play out again in his big fights.
It won't matter in some fights because he will be pitching shutouts or KOing opponents...but the guys who are relentless or have superior stamina will creep up on him late in fights. when someone begins to look effective against him, his "running" will work against him on the cards and those fights will be closer than they appear, so he has to really focus on finishing strong and not giving in and he'll be fine

That shot did real damage and the whole incident was not an act because Dirrell was out of the ring for nearly 2 years on doctor's orders after the fight. No pro boxer, his age and level, is going to take nearly 2 years off unless there's a genuine problem or they're already set for life financially IMO.

I'm not saying he completely faked it but he certainly played on it & I'm sure he'll of got a nice payday as well got rewarded nicely when called into sparring to help George Groves & the likes in preparation for their fights.
