Better thread: Mayweather vs Duran at 135 in their primes!!!

Both are stylistic nightmares for each other...Most times people underrate Mayweathers toughness, and underrate Duran's defense and subtle technical prowess...Mayweather was arguably the greatest junior lightweight ever and Duran was Arguably the greatest lightweight ever only losing one fight at that weight to Esteban De Jesus whom he twice avenged after.

this is a 50/50 so I see no one being dominated at all, IMO it would depend on who adapts the fastest throughout the fight, both were great tacticians...this fight is to close to just base it on speed, power, strength or intangibles

Mayweather would have to bite down and fight at times, and Duran would have to cut off the ring and counterpunch at times...based off their styles and weaknesses I'd favor Mayweather because of his lateral movement, jab and counterpunching abilities and he'd be able to match Duran punch for punch unlike some of his other opponents based off his defense and reflexes....Also Mayweather is a better overall fight than the De Jesus that beat Duran and has some of those attributes is taller with a better Jab...Duran was rough as they come and a great counter puncher as well great to the body...man what a fantasy fight!!!

in one fight I'd favor Mayweather only because he'd land more shots but it would be by split or majority decision in a very great fight where we'd see the best of both at display

in a 3 fight series neither would have the upperhand, both would adapt but based off Duran's susceptablity to speed and lateral movement I'd say Mayweather wins 2-1...I could see Duran getting a kd or two in the series

Duran is the greater p4p fighter but head to head I'd pick Mayweather but I go back and forth on it all the time this wouldve been great

too close to call, could be a draw

Each way fight between great fighters , depends who was in the zone on the night I lean towards Duran but it could go either way .

But honestly at 135 in their prime, Mayweather frustrates him, most likely make him quit like Leonard did in their 2nd fight.
I chose too close to call both guys would struggle with the others style to much for it to be come sort of domination for either guy....Both were damn near unbeatable at that weight...It most be taken into consideration though that in his prime Duran lost to Eteban De Jesus, and Mayweather is a much better fighter and has some of those attributes that trouble Duran

As I said before, a PRIME Duran, AKA a focused Duran, would maul any version of Floyd with surprising ease. Prime Duran was an absolute animal and there is no way that Floyd would be able to hold off the Duran from Montreal. Floyd would be massacred at any range, and would be given a Davey Moore type beat down. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either misinformed, a complete idiot, or a troll.

          I couldnt disagree more

Neither guy IMO dominates either both would have trouble with each other...watch the his fights with De Jesus and Mayweathers fights with Castillo...either close fights or fights they lost...both those opponents were not ATG's and made both these guys struggle...De Jesus landed his up jab and leaping left hook often in all three fights with Duran...two punches that no one throws better than Mayweather at 135 or lower...Mayweather was troubled by educated pressure and bodyshots and timely counters

this fight would be close...who ever wins wouldnt be unscathed thats for sure...both were hungry young and ATG at these weights....stylistically they are each others nightmare which makes this fight intriguing

135lb wasn't even Floyd's best weight, 130 was. Plus, prime De Jesus was a better fighter than Floyd at 135lb in terms of ability and Duran was levels about Castillo; the same one that gave Floyd 2 tough fights at lightweight and deserved to win the first one.

Duran had all the pressure, speed, defense (EXTREMELY underrated), power, tenacity, and most importantly, the intelligence to put a prime 135lb Mayweather through absolute Hell. Floyd would be backed up and mauled on the inside and wouldn't have the sheer talent and abilities that a prime Leonard at 147 had to prevent Duran from decimating him. Do you really think that Floyd's pot shots, shoulder rolls, movement, jabs, and speed would offset the ferocity of a 135lb Duran who was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) 135lb fighter of all time? Floyd literally doesn't have anything to withstand Duran other than his toughness, and would be on the wrong side of a terrible beat down.

I love Floyd ("Pretty Boy" Floyd mostly), but a prime Duran at 135 is one of the absolute worst possible match ups that could be conceived for him if not the worst.
