I really hate the way that Sergio was screwed over for the title, but I start to lose sympathy when reading comments like these.
Make a stand for ****'s sake. If you get a title basically stolen from you, then you can either say "who cares about belts, let's just fight the best" or you can say that it's a matter of principle, you earned the belt fair and square and you're going to do all you can to get the belt back, even if it means fighting Dzinziruk (because to not do so means losing HBO support) and not fighting any of the very best guys (because they have belts, and so fighting them means losing what little WBC support you have).
I can respect either position. But what, he's now fought 3 guys who were not the most challenging opposition, all to put enough pressure on Chavez to get a 500K pay off? That's it?

In reading Dibella's words its hard to imagine that Sergio will ever be considered seriously for top dollar fights and top billing events, it seems like a diservice to have a promoter making suggestions like these which wreak of desperation.
Its a misguided and dillusional Dibella believes that *****g stuff out there like this is somehow going to preasure major promotional companies into making fights happen for his stable.
Here is a quote from Dibellas site bio on Martinez:
In spite of the Roman fight being an official eliminator, the title opportunity continued to be elusive. At this point Martinez decided it was time to make a smart career move. He signed with well-known promoter Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment, based in New York City. The move was designed to help Sergio become a more well-known name in the U.S. and win a world championship.
I dont see it after 4 years.....

Sergio Martinez won the real middleweight championship of the world (including the WBC title) by beating Kelly Pavlik in dominating fashion and has since knocked out four guys in defence of it. That people should talk about him "challenging" Chavez Jr is the kind of joke that makes outsiders view boxing - the greatest sport there is - as laughable bollocks.
