    Mayweather, Underrated?

    I genuinely believe he is.

I don't think boxing fans give him enough credit. If they do, I don't hear it often.

People generally judge him based on his out the ring antics, and the persona he put on.

I think everyone will look back, and start giving credit, eventually, when he retires.

    Or maybe the won't.

Either way, I think he's a special fighter who'll be missed when he hangs up the gloves.

He is very underrated. More fighters study Floyd than any other fighter past or present. That in itself speaks volume of greatness in a class above the rest.

For a resume as weak as his, he is overated, he is rated solely on his percieved skills.

We got a taster of whether he would be remembered with his pretend retirement and he wasnt missed and people werent talking about him in terms of being top 20 ATG standard.
He was only missed in the sense people wanted to know when he was going to come out of retirement to fight Pac. Pac filled the void more than adequately when Floyd left with his exciting fight and stellar performances.
Pac was and is the toast of the town

            This guy......

            Floyd has a weak resume???

A guy gets no credit for beating G. Hernandez, Manfredy, Gerena, Corrales, C. Hernandez, Chavez, Castillo, N'dou, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley, and Ortiz, when he did.

Also, it's the same Manny Pacquiao that is now taking on his first absolute prime opponent since Jorge Solis. And his best opponent selection since Marquez in 08'. And his first actual really legit opponent since Cotto in 09'. Since Floyd retired, Manny arguably lost to Marquez in 08' (the most evident loss of all), had a decent win over D. Diaz, a crappy win over a 145 lb Oscar, very good wins over Hatton and Cotto, than went on a terrible run of Clottey-Marg at 150-Mosley-Marquez at 144, and the JMM fight many thought he lost.

All this guy does is post all day about how Floyd is overrated and how is resume sucks. If Floyd's resume sucks, than Cotto's is an F. Shane Mosley's is a F+. Using the logic of Floyd haters, who say his resume sucks, that's true. It's truly asinine and borderline insane.

Were you a Ricky Hatton fan???? Just wondering, no bulls**t.

I think we can agree that Floyd has some of the best boxing skills ever. How ever the man has chosen easy routes for quite some years. Plain and simple Floyd should have could have been one of the top 10 greatest fighters ever but chose to cherry pick and sometimes make himself look like a straight up coward.

He's underrated by some and overrated by some.

The very first page of this thread is proof of both.

i give him credit for those fights. I think hes a tad bit overrated due to the lack there of fights in the last decade. Meaning if he fought more fights he could have fought different fighters that he didnt to show more of his skill. My hats off to any and all fighters who fights 2to3 times a year and of good quality of opposition.
