Even though this is a fight I wouldn't mind seeing at all, and other than Manny Pacquiao, Martinez is the only other interesting bout for Mayweather - It's humorous to me that Floyd was just dissing Pac for fighting Cotto at 145lbs (Floyds quote was roughly 'I would want to fight a guy who was comfortable'), Floyd is willing to fight Sergio at 150lbs. So it wasn't ok for Pac to fight Cotto at 145lbs by Flodys standards (in which Cotto weighed in at 146lbs for his previous fight) but it's ok by Floyds standards to fight Martinez at 150lbs., a weight in which Sergio himself said he would have to starve himself to do it but would do it for either Pac or May). Does anybody here believe Sergio Martinez will be "comfortable" at 150lbs???
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see May/Martinez. I'm just pointing out how incredibly inconsistant Floyd can be, especially when it comes to Pacquiao.

I know Martinez offered that weight, but the man is desperate for money. Shi.t I would do the same and fight Floyd at a drained 120lbs if it meant I would make millions.

Translates as: I'm scared to fight you at the real junior middleweight limit, so I'll try and handycap you with weight restrictions. If you refuse Sergio, then at least I can say that I tried to make the fight. It's just this kind of damage limitation bull**** that Floyd has gotten away with his entire career, and it's just the kind of stuff that his fans are regularly being spoon fed.

he wants pacquiao.... and if that's not a possibility, he'll give the 3rd best p4p fighter around a fight.... what more could boxing fans ask for?
floyd's too small for 150, and if martinez is willing to drop to 150 what's the big deal?
The big deal is that Floyd has rightly chastised Manny's previous catch weight fights, but now he's offering Martinez exactly the same kind of catch weight handycapping deal, that supposedly made Pacquiao an 8 weight World champion.
If Floyd is going to fight Martinez, then he should fight the real Sergio, and not some weight drained zombie, whose no more than a mere shadow of the man!

And we talking about a middleweight fighter here first off. When the last time Martinez fought at 154, let alone 150. We talking career lightweights here, just maturing into welterweight. So of couese its gonna be a catchweight you dummies. Cotto is a different ball game. And we know Floyd would fight him at 154. Welterweight he's fine at. Not 145

154 or the fight has virtually no cred.
Manny fought Cotto just two lbs south of Cotto's weight class and got a ****storm for it. He fought Margarito three lbs NORTH of Margarito's weight class (150) and got copped a lot of criticism for it too, even though Tony had been at 147 for years. The same heat must come down on Floyd.
Honestly, if it's not Pacquiao, Floyd's best choice is Canelo. Arum won't give him Cotto. Canela is unbeaten, marketable, capable, a Mexican, and the fight is on Cinco de Mayo. That one will do at least 1.3 million on PPV and maybe even higher if they promote it properly. Hell, it could even be a good fight.

I don't want to see the fight below 154.
Mayweather fought Oscar at 154 so he can fight Martinez at 154.
Martinez hasn't fought lower than 154 in years. It will just taint the win if he fights below it.
154 or don't fight him.
