assuming that drug testing is really not an issue anymore...

pac claims "i want mayweather next."
    arum says "no."
pac readily complies and fights another opponent handpicked by arum.
mayweather goes on to fight guerrero, canelo or whoever he decides.

    now, two things can happen:

floyd goes hard on arum and pac while promoting his fight. exposes them publicly on what boxing fans have been suspecting for years. the outcome of this is open for speculation.

or floyd sweeps it under the rug, letting arum spin the issue to his heart's content to make mayweather the bad guy, business as usual. we all lose, boxing takes another black eye, and they make their millions. because let's face it... floyd sells tickets by being the bad guy and arum continues to fool the public for their wallets with his freak show prop that's "chasing the bad guy."

      That's exactly what's gonna happen.

Arum : "Manny couldn't fight on May 5th because of the bad cut he suffered against Marquez. He would have loved to fight Mayweather in June but unfortunately, Mayweather's prison time will start at the beginning of June. It's just bad timing whaddya want me to say? The fight will still be there for us in November anyway."

Floyd : "I'm here to talk about my next opponent Saul Alvarez, I don't got nothin to say about any other fighter. Tune in on May 5th, cinco de mayo, Mayweather vs Alvarez, it's gonna be another ppv extravaganza."

Saragosa allowed Mayweather to remain at large so he can meet contractual obligations and battle an opponent yet to be determined in “Sin City” on May 5.

It is estimated that the violent, pompous and morally reprehensible Mayweather could generate more than $100 million in business for the "The Entertainment Capital of the World" when he steps in the ring five months from today.

Speculation has long persisted that Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs) and Mayweather will finally throw fists on Cinco de Mayo somewhere on “The Strip” at a venue to be determined.

Unfortunately, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum doesn’t want to cement the bout because he believes Pacquiao can’t defeat, or even compete with, Mayweather.

Arum emphatically told Dan Rafael of ESPN.com that Pacquiao’s next opponent will be chosen among the quartet of Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lamont Peterson or Timothy Bradley Jr.

"We're fighting in June, one of the four guys," said Arum, a corruptible weasel who acknowledged during a 2000 federal trial that he bribed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) to attain a higher ranking for one of his fighters.

Rafael then asked Arum if he would now consider Mayweather as an opponent.

        "Absolutely not. Nope."

Rafael rightfully pressed Arum and the snake refused to budge from his yellow stance that will deprive boxing fans of the scrap they deserve.

"My mission is to go over to the Philippines and talk about these four guys," Arum said. "If Manny feels he wants to go in May, he will tell me. I want to make sure Manny's cuts are healed. We won't fall under this kind of pressure. June is much more likely for Manny's fight, not May."

        Arum continued his inane rant.

"What if they fought and Manny started bleeding on the first punch?" a clearly flustered Arum reportedly said. "I don't know if Manny is available to fight in May. I have no idea. I haven't talked to him; I haven't seen him. Seems to me, June is more likely based on what his plastic surgeon said, I don't even know if Mayweather will be licensed [by the Nevada State Athletic Commission] before he serves his time.”

Pacquiao, the first pugilist in history to win 10 world crowns in eight separate weight divisions, eked out an extremely controversial majority decision victory over WBA, WBO and The Ring lightweight king Marquez (53-6-1, 39 KOs) in their third fight in November at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.

In stark contrast to Pacquiao, Mayweather badly outclassed, and essentially embarrassed, Marquez with a shutout unanimous decision triumph in September 2009.

It is apparent that Pacquiao’s struggles with Marquez have made Arum decide to protect his lottery ticket at all costs.

Golden Boy Promotions’ CEO, Richard Schaefer, verbally trounced Arum.

"I don't think Manny Pacquiao wants to be on that list of names for Mayweather, or Bob doesn't want him to be on the list," Schaefer said. "I am sick and tired of Arum's bulls---. First Bob said June is when Pacquiao would fight, when Floyd was going to be on May 5. Then, when it looked like Floyd wouldn't be available in May, he said Pacquiao would be available in May. Now, since they know Mayweather is going to fight in May, suddenly Pacquiao is going to fight in June.”

Schaefer understandably remained on the offensive.

"I'm tired of all those people saying it is Mayweather who doesn't want the fight. Arum knows who to call. He can pick up the phone and call me and say, 'Let's get a fight done with Pacquiao.' The rest of it is bulls---. The rest can go drink the Arum and Top Rank Kool-Aid. It is Arum who doesn't want the fight to happen, end of story."

He already said it. Arum states that he will not fight in may 5th. Arum referenced plastic surgeon.

I'm talking about what they're gonna say once both fighters announce their next opponent. Arum is gonna repeat that same bullshit.

Pacquiao is a class act. He wants Mayweather. The problem is I am not sure Mayweather or Arum want the fight to take place. The latter two seem less certain on the outcome than the Pacman himself.

Props to Floyd for gaining the nickname Pretty boy...because hes hard to hit! BUT thats with fighters that throw lower and land much lower % of punches. NOT a fighter like Manny! He throws 12plus hundred punches a fight. over a hundred a round. And thats with fighters like JMM that are battled tested and plenty of the the other great fighters hes been in wars with. 100 a round. Now the punches landed in average for manny with most fighters is around what most fighters throw with Floyd. I respect all fighters. I cant stand Floyd for what he is outside the ring as a person...but in the ring hes a fighter and a good boxer as well. With his own style that makes this fight what we need in boxing...and what we the fans need to see for a great fight. You think Floyd will win...okay. i disgree for my own reasons. not because i ma Fan of Manny
Im a fan of Manny for what hes done. Not race where hes from or any other ignorant reason! because as a fighter hes done a lot in and out of the ring in the Past decade!!!!! And when the American public can use the word phenomenon and manny in the same sentence is impressive. imo......
                gonna be a good fight.
Look. I don't care about your reasons for liking Manny or disliking Floyd or what they do outside the ring clouds your judgement or not. The point is, he won't throw 100 punches per round if he is getting countered. The fact is, when you throw that many punches, you leave yourself opened. Pacquiao was hesitant to throw punches against JMM because he knew he would get countered. And trust me, Floyd will take advantage of his openings. All it takes is 1 punch from Floyd for Pacquiao to think twice about throwing the next punch and the punch after that. Trust me on this. Pacquiao won't be throwing 100 punches per round against Floyd. Why? Because he will think about that counter he is going to receive if he does. Pacquiao isn't hard to figure out at all. It's just a lot of fighters don't have the physical stamina to keep up with him. For instance, Mosley. He was making the right movements. Moving to Pacquiao's right circling Pacquiao making him miss and making him open up. But the old man didn't have the stamina to throw punches and keep up with Pacquiao.

At this point due to the styles and skill level, Mayweather will probably beat Pacquiao by decision.

I'm rooting for Pac but Pac will probably lose. Either way, he needs to have a fight with Mayweather for his legacy. These are two ATG's and it is time to see the go at it. Pacquiao has made enough money and even if he loses to Mayweather would still make a good amount of money. If the fight is close with Mayweather than maybe we'll be lucky enough to get a trilogy.

Love the spin guys are putting on this. You guys can spin more than Barry Sanders, none of that will change the reality of the matter.

As a Pac fan, I'd love to wait until Mayweather announces his next opponent, when Arum and Pacquiao start saying they wanted Floyd but he already had his opponent lined up, and say that Floyd is ducking, but it's just not the truth.
