    Darius
Dariusz ducked Roy. Plain and simple. Roy was P4P #1.

Mayweather don't need belts, Pacquiao don't need belts. JONES didn't need belts.

You know it, I know it, everyone knows this. Stop making up fantasies to degrade Roy now that his ship has sailed.

Solid resume, good accomplishments. However it's his talent and H2H ability where he really shines.

for the life of me, i don't know why all these foreign dudes think roy jones, when he was the top dog, had to kiss they a** and come to some foreign country to get a** ****d by biased referrees and judges...now, all of a sudden, you got benn, eubank, collins, and all these other fools running around saying jones ducked them, but in the 90's and early 00's, when rj was superman flooring cats with bodyshots, when his name came up, they were doing the scooby doo...(word)....much respect to ricky hatton, who wanted to make the fight with mayweather when both were in their prime...he came to the top dog's soil, established his name, and got the fight....yeah he got check-hooked into retirement, but at least he didn't go out like benn, eubank, collins, etc., saying mayweather ducked him after the fact, because thats all he can hold onto...

Jones Jr is a legend....he fought who was there to fight no doubt...his resume..A- at least if not lil better...fact that he won a middleweight title and a Heavyweight title alone builds a gr8 resume

Nunn rose briefly to the mandatory slot when Roy vacated to fight Douglas. Rochigianni won a debatable split over Nunn in Germany for the title, then Roy changed his mind. The WBC gave him back the belt, said it was all basically a typo and eventually lost a 30 or so million dollar lawsuit to Rocky because of it (later settled for less to keep the WBC solvent).

Roy then met super mando Ricky Frazier when Nunn wouldn't fight Frazier first which was tied in with King, Sulaiman and WBC politics - Frazier was with King and Nunn wasn't anymore (and who wanted to see FRAZIER? Or Grant? or Telesco...get back to that). Nunn again rose to WBC #1 after he KO'd Guthrie in 1999. Jones allegedly offered the Telesco date to Nunn at a rate worth about 3% of the HBO license fee for the fight. Not surprising, it didn't happen. Pure conjecture...Nunn may have wanted to force a bid. Not sure. Wasn't writing then and fishing for old press online to try to be most accurate.

The WBC offered Rocky a mando around the same time to make up for stealing his belt. He stuck with the lawyers. That never came off either. Nunn officially stayed in the slot until around March 2001 when Clinton Woods surpassed him after a fight between the two fell apart multiple times due to injuries etc. Nunn was pretty much done by then and arrested the following year. There have been stories that like he would do with Tarver and the IBF prior to Tarver-Harding I, Jones had requested in writing Nunn have to fight an eliminator to get to him. The WBC agreed. Nunn was inactive for a long stretch between 1999 and 2001 as the title shot carrot got bandied about. It was a long stick.

Roy was very good at navigating the sanc bodies and getting what he wanted.

Coupled with some of the things Roy has said in retrospect about Nunn, it's safe to argue there was something about that fight he didn't like. Fair enough. It's not a real mark on his ledger. However, as said, of all the charges made against Roy of ducking, many of them silly, Nunn's has more weight than most even without much public demand for the fight.

To be fair, there wasn't much public demand for most of Roy's fights in his prime. That's why he fought in some of the odd places he did and survived on an HBO subsidy worth much more than any revenue he could actually draw.

He offered the date to both Nunn and Rochigianni, and both of them turned it down. Nunn didn't fight again for like two years.

I am sorry but Nunn post Liles and Little losses was a shell of himself and really far less of a challenge than guys like Merqui Sosa and Eric Lucas
